Greetings, netizens, hackers, and indie web survivors! After only 10 days of constantly tinkering and exploring ghosttown forums to compare ourselves with, The Cyberix Network has evolved from a barebones PHP forum into a vibrant, privacy-respecting haven for you, me, and every soul fed up with the corporate web’s psychological warfare against the masses.
To reiterate, The Cyberix Network was born from pure disgust with today’s internet. Social media giants harvest your data, slap on a “we respect your privacy” sticker (Does anyone even read their TOS? Check Discords' for a chuckle, then come back here), and call it a day while bombarding you with algorithm-fueled psychological warfare. This is our rebellion; a homegrown alternative where our services run on our terms. We’re here to replace their convenience with sanity, freedom, with a little nostalgic flair as our cherry on top. >be me, first-time PHP coder, somehow not breaking everything The minibord fork started out as a skeleton, but I’ve bolted on enough goodies to make it a beast of a site. Here’s the rundown on what has been done in the past couple of days: - Greentext & BBCode: Forum posts were pretty much begging for the chan-style `>greentext` and `BBCode`. I added greentexting to turn `>tfw no gf` into an italic green (depending on whatever theme you have right now), and added some minimal BBCode for `italic`, ` quotes`, and hopefully more in the future. Threads can now pop with individuality and can be beautifully formatted. Raw HTML can also be used, which honestly can make for some real masterpieces if done right. ^ In addition, articles were updated so that way I can use these neat features here as well. - Categories & Services: I reshaped most of the categories and added some new forums. I took a look at authentic, abandoned boards from about 20 years ago, and realizing that the forums here aren't exactly cutting it, I decided to flesh things out just to streamline it a bit more and hopefully make it more inviting. - New Services: Our email service is now available over at [url]https://cy-x.net/mail.php[/url] . You'll need a forum account to register, if you don't have one already. In addition, I'm working on starting up a fresh, classic IRC server for Cyberix pretty soon, and when that's ready, it'll magically pop up in the headlinks! - And some new stuff... - Official Logo & Button!!: NinCollin’s new Cyberix logo and button simply demonstrate the purity and selflessness of this project. - The No AI Webring: We joined the No AI Webring (baccyflap.com/noai) to help get ourselves known out in the web, AND align ourselves with something we believe is going to truly draw the line between "The Corporate Internet" and "The Human Internet". - Themes & Smilies: I've added plenty of new themes, and have changed the default theme to `darkmetal`! If you don't like it, feel free to change it back. We’re also planning on adding more smilies, because you can't get enough of those. - The Future?: The modern web’s a dystopia. Data harvesting, AI slop, and “relatable” corporate garbage. As it stands now, The Cyberix Project is our fortress, a place where privacy, creativity, and human connection trump their convenience. >Cyberix is the future of the past.< Is it obvious that I love formatting yet? |
