I was scrolling the userlist and found that there are a few strangely banned users.. Especially 'bantest' and 'emailtest'! I tried something out and I am honestly surprised to see what happened. I think I might know what each accounts are for, but these are theories until the admin tells us. I did something stupid, but this stupid idea worked; I was able to log into these banned accounts by putting in their username as their password. I don't know if this means all of these banned accounts have their passwords set to usernames (that'd be really bad.. especially with my first find), but it works. When I logged into 'bantest', I tried looking around the forum but I couldn't see any of the forums. I tried editing my profile, and it told me that I had no permission to edit my profile. This entire account was soft locked, but when I looked at the user list, I noticed that the account was no longer marked as 'banned', and it wasn't red anymore. What??? I was able to log into 'emailtest' with the same trick, but instead of being met with a strange softlocked account, I was actually given a legitimate ban message, and this account wasn't mysteriously unmarked as banned! I copied the exact HTML of the ban message, hopefully it'll show below: Account BannedYour account has been suspended from this forum. Reason: unused This ban is permanent. If you believe this ban was issued in error, please contact the forum administrators. However, outside of this very new ban message, I couldn't really discover anything new. Couldn't edit my profile, couldn't see forums.. I tried looking at the Mail tab to see if there was anything but I couldn't find anything of interest.. I'd assume this account was made to test the mail service though.. Next, I tried ";drop table user". This guy has a pretty special name.. This guy's username was probably an attempt to destroy some kind of database because ;drop table is syntax related to some SQL queries.. according to the internet. I'd probably see why this guy was banned. For some reason, I was able to log in as this guy using his exact username. I really hope banned users just don't have their passwords set to their usernames. This account exhibits the same behavior as the other banned accounts, but the ban reason for this one is 'test'. What is being tested here??? Is this a test to see if usernames can destroy databases? I tried "1=1--", this is the same exact story as 'drop table user'. It even has the same ban reason! Nothing valuable to note here. The next user under him, however.. The one with a very similar name, is a completely different story. https://cy-x.net/forum/profile.php?id=40 ". . .-=". There's something wrong with this person's profile. It's completely different. There is no proper layout and there's nothing to click on. It's a blurry mess of a missing imgur image and orange and purple. I don't know what's going on here. If I zoom in really hard, I see moving colored squares behind/above this array of blurry imgur images. Zooming in all the way reveals the letters 'ROR' and 'THIS CONTENT IS NOT AVAILABLE'. This is a really wacky profile. Unfortunately, I can't log in to this account like the rest. I don't know how I would, since this is a completely random incident. I was expecting to be able to access it since all of the other banned accounts I've seen so far let me log in with their usernames. The final one is pretty funny, but it's a generic banned account. "BABBABBABBABBABBAB" The ban reason is "die", and I just noticed this, but their "B Karina" expires in 604793 days. . Really strange. What is a B Karina??? This is pretty cool.. and also kind of scary. These are all of the banned accounts. htmltest can't be logged into with its username and it only has one post, which was here: https://cy-x.net/forum/topic.php?id=44 I wonder if it's affiliated with the ban and email test accounts. As to what any of these other accounts are for, though.. Here are my theories: bantest - Made to test being banned. I don't know why, but logging in to this account removed its ban status, but it can't browse the forum and it's softlocked. emailtest - Made to test the mail service. Banned for 'unused', I think that helps to prove it. It wasn't unmarked when I logged in, and it was banned permanently. ;drop table user - Malicious attempt at destroying a database? Has only one post, saying 'hi'. Probably not a test: https://cy-x.net/forum/topic.php?id=53 1=1-- - Mysterious account. Banned for the same reason as ;drop table user. No posts. . . .-= - The strangest and most weirdest account so far. Wacky profile that's impossible to navigate. Cannot log in, so don't know the reason for the ban. No posts.. What could this be??? BABBABBABBABBABBAB - Banned for "die". Has a weird ban expire message, 'B Karina'. No idea what this is. I really feel like the ...-= account could make for a few scary stories, hehehe. What do you all feel about this?? I can't believe I just discovered these things just by a pure idiot-autopilot move. ![]() |

Interesting finds. It looks like there's already some interesting lore here. |

Yup. Maybe we'll get some deeper insight as to the purpose of these accounts if @admin or @l-i wishes to chime in here.. This is all kind of exciting (I'm posting really erratically, aren't I)?. I'd also like to point out that since this topic was made, a new profiletest account was made at https://cy-x.net/forum/profile.php?id=37 and was banned only an hour later after its creation, at 4:11:37 I think this account definitely helps prove that all of these banned 'test' accounts belong to the admin, for of course, testing. This user has comments on their profile pointing to this, with "Test comment." being the very first on their profile. Not going to try logging in to that one this time, though. Maybe someone will try that out themselves, but I doubt there's anything new outside of this account making a few profile comments. |

Your theories are mostly correct. Will point out a few things:
BABBABBABBABBABBAB was doing nothing but spamming incoherent garbage. . . .-= has an extremely disruptive profile. Also inserted malicious CSS and HTML into their post footer, header, and post row template. Have not deleted the profile CSS itself so I can try and beat it into submission through intelligent sanitizing, however I am not succeeding, here. This account shared characteristics with ;drop table user and 1=1--, who I believe are equally malicious accounts.
