Actual problems with linux

| Sep 20, 2025 3:16 PM No.779 [Report]

I've been daily driving linux for years now and here are the things i can think of:

  • awful software distribution, especially for proprietary
  • corpo tranimals running every project, making it subject to die overnight out of nowhere(just like the devs)
  • insane defaults everywhere, often not following any standards at all
  • the "customization" that's often advertised is massively exaggerated, instead of having 100 different choices for each part of the system, realistically you get like 2-5 at most with even less being of high quality, which is even debatable

I wonder if those things could be fixed without just sitting down and writing mountains of code alone

yeah i fucking hate linux sometimes, i'm dualbooting win10 and alpine linux and i can't fucking figure out why i need all of these retarded dependencies

>oh yeah this filemanager that has nonfunctional features for no reason is gonna use qt

>but if i want some other functional features while the ones that worked in the other ones are broken i'm gonna have this gtk one

>but you also gotta download these "optional" dependencies in order for it to work

>but they won't work anyway if you download it

>you might need to do some config autism but there is no documentation on it since this program has existed for 15 years

>just werks on my machine bro shut the fuck up!!!!

with linux you can either have

>microcock tier corruption, bloat and performance

>you dont truly control your computer and it's painfully obvious

^ ubuntu, debian.. redhat..
or
>undocumented shit that has a 10% chance of working on your computer

>atleast your computer only uses 500 megs of ram at idle with nothing open with your minimalist WM and background services

>even though winXP only needed 50 megs for a full system but don't worry about that

^ alpine.. (arch, gentoo) tiny core... puppy... etc

damn

this stupid fucking piece of shit alpine linux can't find the WiFi network that I've connected it to before in the past

I can't even do the fucking setup interfaces reboot jank trick because THE FUCKING WIFI INTERFACE SETUP COMMAND NEEDS WIFI IN ORDER TO SET UP A WIFI CONNECTION

WHAT IS THIS FAGGOTRY

Everything on Linux feels desktop/GUI second and terminal first which 99% of users don't want.

| Sep 21, 2025 4:07 AM No.785 [Report]

>wifi on linux

heh...

| Sep 21, 2025 6:43 AM No.786 [Report]

I would also add unstable apis being a notable problem

Trannies constantly changing shit around for no reason makes it impossible for normal people to write software for linux

| Sep 21, 2025 6:49 AM No.787 [Report]

dont worry the multibillion dollar casino kike is going to save linux with his wine fork!

The fundamental problem with Linux distros for general desktop usage is the entire core idea of decentralizing software distribution by having several highly centralized distributors instead.

| Sep 21, 2025 8:00 AM No.790 [Report]

>awful software distribution, especially for proprietary

GOOD, give me the source code or fuck off

>corpo tranimals running every project, making it subject to die overnight out of nowhere(just like the devs)

who cares? as long as the software works

>insane defaults everywhere, often not following any standards at all

RTFM

>the "customization" that's often advertised is massively exaggerated, instead of having 100 different choices for each part of the system, realistically you get like 2-5 at most with even less being of high quality, which is even debatable

this one is true but that's still better than windows where you can't change anything

| Sep 21, 2025 8:15 AM No.791 [Report]

The only way Linux could succeed is if it came preinstalled on laptops, But even then all it would take is one faggot making a scene because his zoomer competitive slop doesn't work to ruin it all for everyone

skill issue

| Sep 21, 2025 10:05 AM No.793 [Report]

no one is stopping you from forking everything and explicitly banning trannies from contributing

| Sep 22, 2025 1:22 AM No.799 [Report]

>no one is stopping you

isn't xlibre being presented as the antichrist to anyone who isn't anywhere near the right though?

| Sep 22, 2025 9:09 AM No.805 [Report]

it may be but so what, it's not like trannies are going to kill you over it, right?

| Sep 22, 2025 9:27 AM No.806 [Report]

Troons are essential to the OSS ecosystem.

They are kind of like cockroaches in that they're disgusting and everyone hates them but they are helpful at the end of the day.

If trannies didn't shit out their garbageware and stir drama every day we would have stagnation.

This is bad because zoomers(currently young adults) need a constant supply of new things to think about to stay engaged.

>They are kind of like cockroaches in that they're disgusting and everyone hates them but they are helpful at the end of the day.

Lol wtf is this metaphore? How are cockroaches helpful?

| Sep 22, 2025 11:34 AM No.808 [Report]

They aren't.
Kill pedotroons on sight.

| Sep 22, 2025 11:49 AM No.809 [Report]

> who cares? as long as the software works

The point is that its not going to work soon
> If trannies didn't shit out their garbageware and stir drama every day we would have stagnation.

No you dumb retard nigger, We get stagnation right now because nothing can progress forward with them in the way
Just look at xorg, Transvestites killed it instead of improving it
And now theyre seething because their hard "work" is being reverted

Alpine Linux wifi issue anon here, I managed to get it working after asking fucking AI because there were no actual docs on the Internet and search results wielded garbage and irrelevant links

Maybe these people should get replaced!

| Sep 22, 2025 1:03 PM No.812 [Report]

I installed Windows 7, too. My low end Athlon is not up for the job of dealing with Windows 10+'s vapid bullshit and kernel input latency.

| Sep 22, 2025 1:03 PM No.813 [Report]

There have been many before you who tried to fix it.
All of them failed, either rage quit or bent the knee to the troons in hopes of coding their way out of the grim bottomless pit one day.
The task is plainly Sisyphean and you're better off just raping windows xp/7 into being viable because that's actually possible to accomplish.
But it's all pointless... There is no light at the end of the tunnel. One day good desktop experience will require amounts of tinkertrannying so unfathomably large, you will be better off not using a computer at all.

| Sep 22, 2025 1:13 PM No.814 [Report]

just use guix
GNU will forever love you!

| Sep 22, 2025 1:16 PM No.815 [Report]

Do you use Guix?
We can make this a desktop thread if you want to
