Help threads don't expire. If advice becomes outdated, someone can correct it.
That's how forums work.

"Thursday at 2 AM" => "Friday at 7 AM" tells you a day passed. That's enough
context for conversation flow. Full timestamps enable tracking patterns we
don't want tracked.

When that becomes a problem, someone will update the thread. Until then,
the burden is on readers to verify info age. We are not interested in deleting perfectly
good discussions just because they happen to be outdated or obsolete.

Could be a day, a week, a year. It tells you absolutely nothing beyond "this post was made on a separate day" which is basically worthless without knowing WHAT day.
What even is the logic behind not having proper timestamps but having usernames? Whether a post was made in 2006 or 2024 matters, whether the poster's name is displayed as Anonymous or Scronglochongos does not.

why the fuck should i invest in a place that has only been up for 2 weeks and is mega-popular vs a place that has been up for months-years and is semi-active? i can rest assured that the place that's been up historically will retain the shit i post on there while the place that's only been up for 2 weeks is probably going to fucking disappear anytime
