yeah, it doesn't apply to all songs out there that have lyrics though
so why the hot take? well it all boils down to the way i like listening to music. i like trying to understand what the music im listening to is trying to tell through it's melodies, what's it's implying.
i don't like it when there's "lore" or a "story" told through words in a song, i'd rather read or watch something instead, instrumental music is the pinnacle form of the art of guessing and understanding.
and it's not meant to be 100% understood, it's always going to be ambiguous.
so what are examples of wordless songs that are trying to tell a story?

what would you assume from listening to this song blindly? personally i'd think it's a sad and tragic song, something you'd hear when an important character is dying or when a movie is coming to a sad end.
and in some part, this is true. this musical piece is used as the theme of the final boss of dark souls 1, it's used for Gwyn, Lord of Cinder. but why is such a song used for a character with a powerful and intimidating name? i'm not gonna get into that cause the post is gonna be thrice as long if i would.
this one is named "Requiem For The Lustful"

this is one of my most favorites, it is yet another sad piano but this in the first climax time it's very loud and strong and also cathartic like there are a thousand souls mourning a death, and towards the end where the second climax is, it's more subtle and calm and quieter, as if time has passed and less souls cared about the one in question.
tbh i don't have a lot of understanding in music theory, i just love listening to music and i love the creativity that comes with it
don't get me wrong, this post is subjective to the touch. you might think that it's the opposite and music with lyrics is better and that's completely fine.
