The aim of public schools is not to educate, but to indoctrinate. Students learn to accept without question arbitrary demands made by a variety os 'authority figures': teachers, principals et. al. Students are taught to work within a schedule that does not reflect their own desires and interests. This is so they may join the 'workforce' and resign themselves to the bone-crushing tedium of a 'job', a scenario in which they are forced to accept arbitrary demands and work inside a schedule that does not meet their desires or interests.
