You might as well remove the date altogether, if that's what you think. But in reality, it can be useful to know when a thread was made.

Show me a case on this website where not knowing when a thread was made was an active detriment to the conversation.
NTA but when the 4chan hack happened early this year and I was checking altchans to see discussion about it, there were threads still up in some of them talking about another hack that happened way back in 2014. If those sites didn't have dates, it would be very confusing as it would look like people were talking about the one that happened this year and saying a bunch of shit that made no sense.
This kind of overcorrective attitude does way more harm than good. People looking at this date system aren't gonna think "oh, I can't tell how old these posts are, I'll just assume they're recent and that the site is active!", they will think "why the fuck are there no dates? this site is retarded" and leave.
>It only makes us feel more lonely and this site more dead.
Dates make this ring even louder. There is no reason for Admin to add dates back into the public interface. Having no dates makes the site grow faster. Altchans are dead because newfags and effortposters alike look at the dates of threads and PPH and say "LOL DEAD SITE" and leave despite the fact that a website that has no posters will be dead and the solution to that is to start fucking posting.
The site has grown exponentially since Views and Dates were removed. People have been replying to threads that are months old and their responses are as valuable as if the thread was made yesterday.
Exceptions should obviously be made for things like the 4chan hack but there is no ideas that can fix it that I can come up with. Bringing the failure that is dates back will only kill the site.
>The site has grown exponentially since Views and Dates were removed.
That or it could be that it was added to allchans.org, a popular altchan directory, which is where I and likely a lot of other people found this site. Was that before or after dates were removed? Gee, idk, sure would be nice to have dates for that!

Valid point about old vs new thread confusion. Will be updating the system to show:
This will give chronological context when it matters (distinguishing 2014 from 2024 for example)
while still keeping recent content feeling fresh. Will also be monitoring how it affects
engagement patterns and adjust if needed.
why did site activity fucking drop as a result of this. i swear to god I am not schizo but people seem to be posting less
newcomer here, how are these changes going along? i didn't know this site had views, i definitely woulda thought them off as realy fucking weird given what this site seems to stand for
>why did site activity fucking drop as a result of this
ebs and flows. people usually visit once or twice a day and that's ok. quality over quanity is something that seems tobe getting spat out around in these kinds of threads but it really is something to learn from
