When I was 16 I tried to shell swap a New 3DS XL with no prior experience tinkering with consoles, and fucked it up really bad. So for the past 2 years it's been sitting in a plastic box while I wait to find somebody competent who can fix it, anyways I've been using another one since then and was wondering if there are any strange projects that could be done with the old one (besides growing a pair and fixing it myself). Any suggestions?

i got a artillery genius with mks gen l v1.0 and i am trying to get a bltouch clone to work under klipper i asked ai and it said this: "The MKS Gen L v1.0 board has built-in capacitors that smooth out electrical noise on endstop ports.
While Marlin handles this fine, Klipper is too precise—the board's capacitor completely absorbs the ultra-fast (5–10ms) signal from a 3D Touch clone before Klipper can even detect it." and it said i should use the servo2 as the z-stop. so is the ai right or I will fry the motherboard if i try that?

Have you actually set it up and run it? I'd say to do that first and see if it performs to your expectations before worrying about modding it based on some AI “suggestions.”

yes i did with the default wiring, and it doesn't know if it open or triggered, i looked up klipper's documentations. i changed the settings etc. and still didn't worked, so i asked ai. it said this

All my boards and printers are old and diy'ed so I'll defer to the chatbot I guess. Only other thing I'd try off the top of my head is to stick a multimeter on the touch and make sure it's actually working. Have you tried it with Marlin?

After cooking enough of my own hardware over the years personally I'd try and exhaust any firmware options before making hardware/wiring changes. I'm just one retard however, better to consult the general for the consensus.
With regards to the actual thread, I have no ideas OP. Sorry.

Idk what you broke (was it a ribbon cable or something?), you should absolutely fix it. I recently did a top screen swap on my gf's new 3ds xl top screen, which had been shattered. This was the absolute cream-of-the-crop no bullshit best guide I was able to find for the console: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xo-MjlE3PcA
Good luck to you on doing the shell swap. And whatever you broke, you can most likely order a replacement part off ebay. Make sure that the listing description specifies that it is meant for the *New* 3ds XL and not the old one. Go Slow As Hell. Do not use excess force. If you find yourself getting even FAINTLY frustrated with the process at any point, put down the project and walk it off. You must stay steady and calm and keep a clear head, or else you WILL break something.
