I hope you didn't write the original post, it's so misguided. Heartbleed in OpenSSL, Shellshock in Bash, the recent festivities in npm. All massive open-source programs, and these big things just slipped past!
The idea that open source grants security hinges on the belief that there's an army of nerds out there who crawl source code looking for bugs out of the goodness of their hearts. That's kind of true, but there's less people doing that than what you may think. Add to that, OpenSSL and Bash are tiny programs compared to Win XP, have less complexity so less surface area for attack, and also, that aforementioned army would be more interested in these relevant programs than some old operating system only used by hobbyists.

Keep in mind that majority of armenian computers and including the government ran windows xp - Within a few days of the second nagorno-karabakh war azerbaijan hacked all the government and military computers resulting in azerbaijan having a fuckload of intelligence information which in turn armenia's defeat, while there alot of factors but the fact they suffered a security breach within days of the war and probably several other breaches before that shows that windows xp is pretty much obsolete in any format. some would argue that it's "still good" for personal computing but at that point loonix just outright dwarfs it if your entire shtick is just web-browsing and maybe a couple of other old software. even a few minutes of configuring a game launcher is far better than XP in most cases.

I appreciate the effort and help, but you need to realize that 90% of 4chan consists of bots, state actors, and torrents of worthless spammers and schizophrenic trolls who only use the website in order to shit it up.
They might even agree with you on the inside but instinct orders them to disagree in order to garner a reaction out of you for personal satisfaction.

I don't believe that advertising on 4chan is the best way to get people on this site. It is clearly inviting that same bad behavior over here as we are beginning to see
