Toothpaste is probably a health risk at the very least. The fact we are supposed to do it every day twice a day, and that it contains so many chemicals concerns me, so I may just make my own toothpaste at some point, apparently bicarbonate of soda works really well with some mint and a bamboo toothbrush.

Toothpaste is a scam, do not use it, even if you remove all chemicals there are still abrasives in it, which damage your teeth increasing surface area for bacteria and all kinds of stuff.
