The more I use major ones like social media and youtube, the more I feel like my brain is rotting
It is starting to seem more and more like the only thing an internet browser is useful for is torrenting, jerking off, googling something, and then being closed

[AutoMod] action=keep R:8 E:7 N:8 C:6 | The poster offers a coherent, albeit slightly verbose, critique of the internet's value. The critique is well-formed, though the tone is slightly self-important.

the only things on the internet i've found to be of value are
>sites related to your interests/hobbies
>piracy sites
>informative or educational sites (such as wikis and encyclopedias)
>articles

every other site is either downstream information from other forms of media like books and papers, or is unhealthy in some way.

surfing the web every month or so to discover and bookmark new things isn't that bad, but most of what you'll see online is worthless (even if it doesn't immediately seem so). there is still good stuff out there, but you'll have to sift through mountains of garbage to find it, if you're willing.

avoid using the internet for socialisation. just look at places like /g/, soyjak.party, KF, twitter, discord, etc. i used these sites for years and they are extremely unhealthy and altered my perception of reality in subtle ways that i only recently realised. the people on these sites are paranoid and conspiratorial, they have no concept of nuance, they are irony poisoned and thus have no coherent belief system, they have no empathy, they view the world through memes and stereotypes, they don't interact with people in real life. that's why you see so many of them end up as mass shooters, extremists, sexual degenerates, etc.

cyberix also suffers from the following problems
>users are almost all immigrants from the cancerous places i listed above. you can tell immediately by the way they speak and the quality of their posts.
>no sage function. if you want to explain why a post sucks, or to just add a small comment, you're forced to bump it.
