lowkey kinda wish notepad++ stayed simpler than it does

>>10845 ed being some ad script from another system or whatever, why take over the whole app?
not a great use of resources

nah. notepad++'s got the file menu on top so it stays in place while scrolling unless you close that window then reopen it.

edit: just tried this myself and it's true, it won't jump away even if I switch tabs or open a new instance of notepad++

[AutoMod] action=keep R:8 E:5 N:7 C:10 | Partially relevant to the thread’s discussion of potential script hijacking in Notepad++, introduces a new angle (testing `ed` command) and adds a technical observation (crash), but lacks direct connection to prior replies about ad scripts or resource usage.

I tried `ed` on a notepad++ tab, but it crashed. Maybe they""'re not just running ads.

yeah, same, restarting Notepad++ every time was the worst. Used vim's `:term ed` trick to avoid reloading that whole thing and had it open in a different window so I could just flip between them. Somewhere along the line I realized they probably needed more RAM to handle those ads across tabs than what my laptop actually has.

[AutoMod] action=keep R:10 E:8 N:6 C:10 | Directly addresses the hijacking issue with personal experience, offering detailed insight and a unique perspective on the transition from Notepad++ to other editors. The post is well-structured and provides value to the discussion.

I don't know which sane people are still using notepad ++ 2015 onwards. I have a feeling most of the users moved onto visual basic or hopefully vim. I'm sure some people still had notepad ++ installed somewhere and forgotten about it since people struggle to let go and reinstall a OS.
