You're getting to watch a project being subverted in real time. She will just do whatever her masters want her to and steer the ship wherever they tell her. Debian is a pretty big part of the Linux ecosystem so this doesn't surprise me. Hopefully they tell her to fuck off and die but if they let her in power we can expect to see everything become cucked, not just libtarded cucked (debian already is and has been this for a long time and it hasn't really manifested in the end product) but you'll actually just see a bunch of horrible anti-user anti-debian decisions being made probably for some hidden corporate agenda. It'll just slowly get harder and harder to keep using packages it used to offer. It'll offer fewer packages, support less hardware, be harder to fork, and any user who complains they'll call a nazi.

So unfortunate to see state actors/retards/indians taking the diversity word to not only worsen open source projects but also tarnish the image of true diverse groups within those same projects (which never never had a problem with diversity in the first place other than redditors and bsky users)

This is a project subversion attempt plain as day and they've been trying for a long time now.
The guy who was originally going to campaign got sick or injured and everyone was preparing to start a new round of nominations when the jeeta submitted her candidacy at the last minute, overrulling any attempts to redo the process. Lots of people behind closed doors took issue with this but nobody wanted to be the one to speak out against the stronk brown womyn, so she won by default.

There needs to be a larger cultural shift back towards valuing freedom of speech, not constantly taking opinions as threats to life and limb, and not assuming people's opinions based on identity group membership no matter how predictable that is, for that guy to get anything done. But freedom of speech is unstable, because the moment some of it is lost somewhere it's lost everywhere because everyone makes everyone else comply, and there's no realistic way to get it back. Like once people start policing speech on their own you need someone to force them not to do that, and they'll complain about that restricting their rights.
Basically, all current generations are lost causes. The only peaceful way of getting that back is nationwide changes in the school curriculum and waiting for/forcing the internet to open up against its will for decades, which western civilization does not actually have time for.

I don't care quite as much about boycotting software for ideological reasons these days, thanks to general culture war fatigue, but if someone was genuinely outraged by Hindus turning the entire tech industry into their designated shitting street, why the hell would they switch to Linux now when it's been compromised just as badly as the proprietary alternatives? Say what you will about modern Windows, but at least the NT kernel and Win32 API still actually fucking work, despite Microslop completely and utterly raping the rest of the OS to death under Nadella. Linux never even had that going for it, and now it's only gaining popularity because Big Tech and useful idiots like Sruthi are corrupting it into a shittier facsimile of Windows with virtually none of its upsides. For lack of a better conclusion, fuck Debian and I hope it eats shit and dies along with the rest of the modern desktop PC ecosystem.


You can run modern corposhit on VISTA if you're willing to track down a copy of Second System. It continues to astound me that Windows was designed in such a way that it's possible for one (1) person to extend the functionality of an only recently unsupported 19 year old release without any official source code access, while even Debian is absolutely useless for forwards *and* backwards compatibility, is only supported for 5 years max if we're being generous, and also it's jeet garbage now so who cares. What in God's name are we even doing at this point

Technically there's always the alternative of writing your own software, running a highly modified LFS and ignoring all updates that try to implement any sort of vendor lock-in but it's prohibitively expensive, inconvenient and there are very few people skilled enough to pull it off.

Ahh I was hoping she wouldn't win. Who voted for her is anyone's guess, but her one and only policy was "More indians for Debian". She has no other policy, her diversity policy was simply the inclusion of indians (coincidentally, she happens to be Indian as well, funny that).

The bright side is these elections are held every year. Perhaps next year after the needful has been done completely, more developers will take interest in this vote.

If you need docker for anything other than corposlop work then you deserve to get jeeted, hacked and pissed on. That being said the only rational choices are OpenBSD and FreeBSD.

i warned you all ages ago, like 7 months ago that debian was wildly insecure and maintainers are lleaving without being able to be replaced. I've been using Debian since I was 13 years old, and I'm 24 now, and I left it for OpenBSD lol.

The biggest thing that hurt debian was everyone wanting to fork it for no fucking apparent reason. Why does Linux Mint exist. Why does Trisquel exist. Why Ubuntu, why Crunchbang (back in the day) and so on.

Not only that, but you have luddites/boomers who are so aggressive to AI even when you go out of your way to spend time verifying shit end to end wil instantly deny your PR because "muh LLM", even though it literally provably solved a problem

Open source is hostile to newcomers for no reason, we go out of our way to be polite, to adhere to the standards and take time to read the documentation, and what do you get in return? None of these maintainers are going to helpme, and Debian certainly is losing all of theirs.

you've already lost if you have to manually compile and configure everything in your OS + even then, you'd still be fighting against high-level faggotry, like Rustshit infecting the kernel, and systemd gradually becoming a hard requirement across every mainstream distro. I'm pretty sure the Gentoo/LFS/etc. spergs aren't going extinct anytime soon and I wish them the best, but the Red Hat stack's already won the war, and fighting against it is going to become an increasingly uphill battle

Win32 development will probably remain relevant until the heat death of the universe thanks to Wine, and as much as I like to shit on Linux, it being open source makes it far more feasible to salvage, even if I kind of doubt that's going to happen. Also I guess you could switch to one of the BSDs or something, but :^)
