Forum Guidelines and Features

Thread Bumping System

This forum uses a hybrid bumping system designed to encourage active discussion while preventing content death:

[ACTIVE] - Threads with recent replies are bumped based on new contributions

[RESURGING] - Threads without recent replies (several days old) can be bumped by views, allowing valuable content to resurface

This prevents the traditional forum problem where older threads disappear forever, while still prioritizing active discussions. Resurging threads always appear below active ones.

Anonymous Posting

Users can post without registering, allowing for anonymity when posting. Registered users are given a green hue in their username.

Users are able to customize the name that they will use when posting. Unregistered users will default to "Anonymous". Registered users may customize their name as well as choose to display their role's distinction in their post.

This way of posting should encourage posts to be more about the content of what's being said rather than who's behind it.

Registration Benefits

Registering isn't a waste of time however, especially if you're interested in attachments.

Anonymous Users

  • Only get to upload one attachment per post
  • All anonymous attachments are automatically removed after 10-15 minutes
  • Additional restrictions apply

Registered Users

  • Upload a maximum of five attachments per post
  • Reserve permanent attachment archival (assuming it isn't removed by us)

Attachment System

Attachments can be embedded inside of posts. If you type:

attachment: 1

Without the space between the number, it should format properly for you.

This forum supports HTML, BBCode and Markdown formatting. You can wrap that attachment call around [image], [audio], or [video] tags depending on the attachment's file format if needed.

User Roles

Roles can have short codes adorned to them. This is how you can differentiate between a moderator and an admin aside from the color of the poster's name themselves.

Anti-Spam Systems

Rate Limiting

We have a ratelimit implementation built into the forum. Posting too fast will require you to fill out a (privacy respecting) captcha in order to proceed with your action. Ignoring the captcha or failing it will prevent you from accessing the forum.

R9K System

R9K is an additional anti-spam utility. Similar or outright identical post and thread contents will be denied, which cuts out static spamming behavior.

Abusers are forced to make their posts unique, at least through mashing their keyboard in order to post.

Rules and Moderation

Anonymous posting is a privilege and can easily be turned off at any time. Certain situations may require temporarily disabling anonymous attachments only, but I hope that won't have to happen.

Posting Standards

Common forum rules against thread derailing, spamming, trolling, double/triple/quad posting, a general failure to make sense, and talking in all caps are all off the table here.

Conversely, this forum is not a receptacle for all the worthless nonsense you can think of. If you seriously cannot figure out where the line is drawn, then all I can say is LURK MORE. For further reference, play pretend and act as if you're speaking to a group of people in real life.

Posts should contribute meaningfully to discussion. This means:

  • Adding information, analysis, or legitimate questions
  • Staying on topic for the thread
  • Making an effort to advance the conversation

What isn't allowed:

  • Child pornography
  • Direct uploads of material that is illegal in the United States to the forum
  • Gore, shock content, or pointless image dumps of human beings
  • Unrelated images or videos posted to threads

Just because the forum should always be considered not safe for work doesn't mean we care for your stupid fucking pics you swiped from rotten.com, stileproject, 4chan, and so forth.

We have no tolerance for this sort of malicious fuckery here and you won't find anywhere good on the internet that does.

Quality Control

We maintain standards here. Low-effort posting patterns commonly seen on other imageboards will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Excessive use of memes (even outdated ones, you aren't quirky) as substitutes for actual discussion
  • One-word replies or meaningless interjections
  • Generic inflammatory bait designed to derail conversations

If you can't be bothered to write a coherent paragraph about the topic at hand, you should stick to lurking until you learn how.

Reading Assignment System

If you get banned, you'll be assigned homework. Your assignment is reading the forum's existing threads for the duration of your ban. If you were banned for 10 minutes, you'll need to read the forum for 10 minutes straight.

This isn't punishment for punishment's sake - it's to help you understand what quality discussion looks like here.

If you've been banned permanently, I suggest throwing your computer out of a window.

Appeals and Support

If you have a question or want to dispute a ban, contact me or anyone with mod powers through IRC, XMPP, Mumble, or whatever other communication methods we're hosting.

You can also join those chat services for general conversation. They exist as public spaces for realtime discussion, and I have no problem handling moderation disputes publicly unless you have a compelling reason for privacy.

The Bottom Line

This forum exists to foster genuine discussion about technology, internet culture, and related topics. We're building something better than the typical imageboard cesspit or corporate-sanitized "social" media platform.

If you're here to contribute meaningfully to that goal, you're welcome regardless of your background or how you normally post elsewhere. If you're here to recreate the same low-quality patterns that plague other sites, you'll find yourself unwelcome pretty quickly.

Quality discussion requires effort.

IF YOU FEEL ANY OF THIS IS UNFAIR, GO FUCK YOURSELF.

There are plenty of other forums on the internet that you can visit.

Feel free to try something new.

Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 8th, 2025

>shut up and tell me if you glow

We collect the bare minimum required to run a functional forum with anti-spam protection and a powerful moderation suite. Nothing leaves the server. Nothing is sold. If you're schizo, use Tor. We encourage it.

What We Collect and Why

For All Users (Anonymous & Registered)

IP Addresses

  • What: Your IP address when you post, create threads, or perform moderated actions
  • Why: Moderation and anti-spam. This lets us ban raiders, identify proxy/VPN/Tor users (displayed publicly to other users), and mass-remove spam when necessary
  • Retention: Stored indefinitely for moderation purposes
  • Notes: If you don't want your real IP logged, use Tor or a VPN. We publicly mark known proxy ranges to help identify potential punks who might not be interested in quality discussion.
If you aren't using any kind of proxy for any of your daily Internet activities, that's on you.

Global ID

  • What: A fingerprint combining your IP address and user agent
  • Why: Tracks unique visitors for site statistics without requiring accounts
  • Retention: Stored with activity timestamps.
  • Notes: This is how we count "unique visitors". It's not personally identifiable. Use Tor and a user agent switcher if you don't like it.

Posted Content

  • What: Thread titles, post content, custom display names
  • Why: It's a forum. This is the content you chose to publish
  • Retention: Indefinitely unless deleted by staff
  • Notes: Anonymous posts are just as permanent as registered posts.

Attachments (Anonymous Users)

  • What: Files you upload to posts
  • Why: Forum functionality
  • Retention: Automatically deleted after 10-15 minutes
  • Limits: One attachment per post
  • Notes: We hash files to prevent duplicate uploads and spam

Rate Limiting Data

  • What: Timestamps of your actions (posting, creating threads, etc.)
  • Why: Prevents spam and flooding
  • Retention: Temporary. Cleared after rate limit window expires
  • Notes: Hit the rate limit too often and you'll see a captcha (homemade, privacy respecting).

R9K (Robot9000) Logs

  • What: Hashes of post content, timestamps, IP addresses, thread/forum context
  • Why: Prevents spam by detecting duplicate or highly similar posts
  • Retention: Indefinite for spam detection purposes
  • Notes: We hash your posts to detect if you're copy-pasting the same shit everywhere

Ban Records

  • What: IP addresses, IP ranges, user IDs (if registered), ban reasons (public and private), ban duration, reading assignment progress
  • Why: Enforcement and appeal tracking
  • Retention: Indefinite
  • Notes: Bans include "reading assignments". We track how long you've been browsing the forum (on the server) to enforce this.

Moderation Logs

  • What: Actions taken by moderators, timestamps, IP addresses or user IDs involved
  • Why: Accountability and dispute resolution
  • Retention: Indefinite

For Registered Users Only

Account Information

  • What: Username, email (optional), password (hashed, we never see your actual password)
  • Why: Account functionality
  • Retention: Until we delete your account
  • Notes: Email is optional and is kind of useless right now.

Login Activity

  • What: Last login timestamp, IP address at login
  • Why: Account security and abuse prevention
  • Retention: Indefinite

Display Preferences

  • What: role distinction visibility settings
  • Why: Post customization
  • Retention: However long the post lives for

Attachments (Registered Users)

  • What: Files you upload
  • Why: Forum functionality
  • Retention: Permanent (unless removed by staff)
  • Limits: Five attachments per post
  • Notes: File hash prevents duplicate uploads. We generate thumbnails for images

Role Assignments

  • What: Your role (user, moderator, admin) and associated permissions
  • Why: Access control
  • Retention: Indefinite

Articles

  • What: Article content, author information, publish status, featured status
  • Why: Site content management
  • Retention: Indefinite unless deleted

Site Analytics

Page Statistics

  • What: Total page hits, unique visitors (counted via Global IDs), monthly aggregated stats
  • Why: We like to know if anyone actually visits this site
  • Retention: Indefinite
  • Notes: No third-party analytics. No Google Analytics. No tracking cookies. Just basic server-side counting

Cookies

Session Cookies

  • What: PHP session ID
  • Why: Keeps you logged in
  • Duration: Until you close your browser or log out

Theme Cookie

  • What: Your selected theme preference
  • Why: Remembers your theme choice
  • Duration: 1 year

That's it. No tracking cookies. No advertising cookies. No bullshit.

What We DON'T Do

  • We don't sell your data
  • We don't share your data with third parties
  • We don't use third-party analytics or tracking
  • We don't serve personalized advertising
  • We don't build shadow profiles
  • We don't fingerprint your browser beyond basic user-agent for Global ID
  • Nothing leaves this server

Why We Need This Data

This forum allows anonymous posting, which is great for privacy but also makes it a magnet for spam, raids, and general fuckery. The data we collect exists solely to:

  1. Stop spam - R9K prevents duplicate content spam
  2. Stop raids - IP logging lets us mass-ban raiders and their proxies
  3. Maintain quality - Bans and rate limits keep the signal-to-noise ratio acceptable
  4. Enable moderation - We need to be able to identify and remove problematic content/users

Without this data collection, the forum would be impossible to moderate and would either:

  • Die from child porn spam immediately, or
  • Be forced onto some onion address that nobody can find

Data Security

  • Passwords are hashed
  • Database access is restricted
  • We don't share data with third parties
  • Server logs are private

We're not a massive operation, but we're not idiots either.

Changes to This Policy

We'll update the dates at the top if we change anything significant.

Legal Compliance

We comply with applicable US law. If law enforcement serves valid legal process, we'll comply. If you're posting illegal content to begin with, you're an idiot and you'll get v&.

We will publicly publish what we can from law enforcement requests to Cyberix and actions taken for transparency.

Finality

We collect what's necessary to run a functional, moderated forum that allows anonymous posting. We don't monetize your data, we don't track you across the web, and we don't sell anything to anyone.

If you're uncomfortable with any of this, use any proxy and a user agent switcher. If you're uncomfortable with content being public, don't post it. If you're uncomfortable with moderation existing, you're on the wrong website.

This isn't Facebook. This isn't Reddit. We're just trying to run a forum that won't immediately collapse.
