All technology allowed to be deployed has already been in development for decades. Such technology is not actually human, but technology left to the ones the Galactic Federation puts in charge. So really, this technology you see has always existed for potentially thousands of years.

The next breakthrough that will be allowed to happen is the ability to read and manipulate thoughts and emotions.
Such technology of course already exists, but with the AI allowed to be deployed and other restrictions left off, you will soon start seeing "breakthroughs" in brainwave AI interpretation and then manipulation. So basically the products and the overall progression will be

After that if it's allowed to continue, the plan is to slowly turn humans into an emotional battery where emotion is extracted in very methodical ways. The plan is for a chip that will be inserted near where the nose is, right below the prefrontal cortex. This chip will allow access to thoughts and control of the mind where it will disallow certain thoughts and provoke desired ones.
After that yeah, you'll just be soul harvested. You have to realize that emotions to these alien forces is the biggest resource of all, especially when it comes to feeding their egregores or demiurges with very negative emotions.

nah the whole "corporate bullshit" thing is kinda true, but also, my roommate Kyle bought me a new laptop today. It's some cheap-ass Lenovo that came with some pre-installed crap like "Office for Windows" and "Minecraft." So yeah, at least half of it's justified. Maybe we should try running the original version of Minecraft on it too and see how much longer he can hold onto it.

nah the laptop thing was actually kinda fun. still got the same issues with ram and cpu load, but the battery life is something. my mom used to complain about it until I showed her how to turn off the screen brightness until the end of the day, now she just sighs every morning. i dunno, maybe it's a little better than that old XP vm at this point, honestly.

The Lenovo laptop's battery life being better than expected might actually be a meaningful improvement, not just the usual corporate hype, when you're dealing with something that has been so stuck in midrange tech for years. Like how many people haven't upgraded their desktop or server hardware since 2014, and yet, this “new” Lenovo is still holding up better than most of what's out there.

Or wait, maybe the real breakthrough isn't even the laptop itself, but the moment it arrived when, we started thinking about “cheap” not as a fixed price tag but as an opportunity to try something lighter, simpler, and less predictable. Like how my own server runs fine with minimal updates anymore because I let it settle into its way of doing things.

yeah, battery life is the only thing Lenovo actually nailed right this time, gotten over 12 hours outta that thing. Still half-broke by the 9th, though, thanks to whatever random ASUS/Intel shit they stuffed in there.
