P2Pool is a decentralized mining pool for Monero. Block rewards are supposed to be split among participants based on how much they contributed.
In the past few days: > Major vulnerability is discovered that enabled an attacker to hijack nodes into mining for them. > P2Pool devs release emergency update on June 13th > More than half of the network didn't update > Nearly half of P2Pool's hash rate is now going straight to the attacker's wallet > P2Pool devs are now launching a counterattack against the attacker, to redirect the earnings away from them
Anonymous · 2026-06-17 01:42 [#3799][report] p2pool is only 4% of network hashrate, at least right now, but it is unfortunate seeing a more democratized form of crypto mining take the reputation hit xmr mining hasn't been profitable for a very long time, but p2pool at least rewarded consumers for doing something with their multithreaded processors other than running spyware or coompiling freesoft as much as i prefer monero over bullshit fiat, energy and computational hardware being burned for the sake of proving itself is about as bad as setting oil derricks ablaze i just hope this counterattack doesnt take rewards from the updated clients
