The number of legally mandated allergens and religeous dietary restrictions had increased over the last ten years to the point where it's now a serious cost in manufacture and a market barrier to producers.
As people with allergies are the only beneficiaries of these laws, is it fair that they should have to pay a monetary tax to impacted producers?

5 normal ingredients were left out because they were allergens, so the food kind of sucked.
The cost of 3 ingredients was more then six times normal, as many of our primary producers could guarentee their produce was free from allergens.
We had to stop producing an entire line of products, because it wasn't worth having two allergens in the facility at all.
We had to spend 8 times as much on cleaning chemicals that were sulphide free.
People don't realise how much cost is being directly added to their food by these laws. Our profit margins are much smaller then retailers, a %5 cost increase cuts out profit by 20%. We stop making the product at all.
And imported products they comply with zero alergen requirements, simply claiming they "may contain" any allergy and not disclosing when they might, because nobody can sue them, have a serious commercial advantage which combined with other non compliance issues and labour law violations is why migrant slop is so cheap.
The laws we have in place are suicidal, destroying local industry, stealing local jobs, taking ordinary foods off the shelves, losing tax revenue and driving the import of millions of tons of substandard third world slop.
