Apparently the original nachos were just tortilla chips, some melted cheese, and sliced jalapenos.

Any other examples of dishes that were vastly superior in their original form?

those are like the cheap knockoff brand of nachos. I don't think many people really consider these real nachos, most would think of something more like picrel. which is fundamentally pretty much the same as the OP nachos, just a few more toppings.
or maybe I am underestimating the patheticness of Americans, idk.

They're cheap, convenience store nachos yes. You can buy them at any 7-11, Circle K, or AMPM. Where I grew up near the border, most mom n' pop restaurants called the ones in your pic "super nachos" or something similar.

You do you. It's your money, I say. But cheesefags will fight you on this.

I mean, yeah, fair. but let's say your friend says to you "let's split some nachos" at the pub, or you're hosting a sports night and somebody says they'll bring nachos. you would probably picture "loaded nachos" and not the liquid cheese nachos, am I right?

Best Nachos
>Fresh Fried Tortilla chips (Shitty mission brand corn shells work fine)
>Fresh Shredded monterry jack
>Fresh shredded medium or mild cheddar
>Fresh shredded Pepper Jack
>Leftover Pork or Chicken preferably from previous nights bbq
>Hit it under the broiler to get it nice and melty
>Pico
>guac
>Fresh Jalapeños because pickled ones are ass
>Fake sour cream which is just greek yogurt mixed with a little bit of water in a squeeze bottle to top it off you get a better tangy flavor this way
>Good smokey salsa served on the side

When I make my own nachos I literally just melt whatever cheese I have on hand. I never personally buy "cheese sauce" so I almost never eat it unless I buy nachos at a movie or event because that's usually what they have. I don't consider them to be two different things, either way it's just nachos. Hell, even OP's definition is fancier than mine because most of the time I don't even have jalapenos to put on it, maybe just some hot sauce or salsa if I have it.

As I said above, if I'm out somewhere I actually expect nachos to just be chips and cheese sauce, unless I'm at an actual Mexican restaurant. A party would be 50/50, sure it could be a nice tray of loaded nachos or maybe it's just a bag of chips and a jar of cheese sauce, don't really care either way.

ok. fair enough I guess. must just be regional differences. where I am, you would get something akin to loaded nachos pretty much anywhere except like gas stations and sports venues.

If you think that's superior you must be dirt poor but then again all Mexican food is poverty food marketed to retarded tastelets like you

You can buy the cheese sauce in bulk and just take a few spoonfuls of it throughout the day as a filler between meals.

To add to this: My father is 80 years old. Everyday he eats chia seeds, greek yogurt, nuts etc. All healthy stuff. He's been doing this for at least 35 years. I can count health conscious millennials I know on 1 hand. Anyone in my age group that lost weight did it via ozempic. Our generation talks a big game but doesn't commit most of the time.

Sour cream, tomatoes, onions, maybe pico, a protein, etc. I'm personally okay with just microwaved chips or saltine crackers covered in shredded cheese, some garlic salt, and some red pepper flakes. Better if baked in the oven though.

That's my ideal way to make them at home. Did you just make that up? I don't usually have jalapenos so banana peppers or an appropriate hot sauce will make do in its stead.

I'm a euro and I really want to like nachos but it seems there's nothing to like, the tortilla chips are inferior to potato chips, and the whole thing is basically tons of cheese plus a fatty sauce.

Okay? So just make it with potato chips, no cheese, and without whatever the hell "fatty sauce" is.

My mom used to make nachos like this, but strictly used round tortilla chips and would put a small dollop of refried beans in the center under the cheese and jalapeno slice.

Damn, I normally do either pico or salsa, not both. That sounds like a solid setup that you have. I normally have mine with refried beans on the side instead.
