Found out it was $100. >picnic basket with weird jams, jellys, and spreads I was single, 25, living alone, autistic, and never went outside except to get fast food. >"TGIF" liquor flask kit Apparently mom thought I was a cheerful alcoholic on the go >Battery powered salt and pepper grinder It had 2 compartments in the unit, but I put 6 batteries in, went to try it for the first time when making my eggs, it took over a minute to get enough salt and pepper on the eggs. I took the batteries out and threw it away >Crab/lobster butter warmers I'm too retarded to get a high paying job to afford crab or lobster. They're still in the box somewhere. >Christmas themed spoons and mugs I hate christmas because of all the shitty gifts and consumerism, I think I threw most of them away already because snowflake cutouts in wood stirring spoons just trap food to rot. >ship in a bottle decorative decanter globe My brother thinks I'm buying a pint of fancy liquor to put in a temu decanter globe? I'm hoping the cat breaks it.
About 6 months into dating my now wife, my brother heard she was buying a house (we hadn't discussed moving in together yet) and bought her a nice ceramic dish set and throw blanket. She also thought it was weird someone she's never met bought her plates and dishes she didn't need. I was miffed he was buying stuff for her despite never meeting her and he was like $20k in credit card debt already.

Anonymous · 2026-07-12 03:24 [#8215][report] >>22656 I'm sure it does work just fine. The issue is that something like that is a large, single-use kitchen gadget that isn't useful for anything except it's intended purpose. What do you do with it on weeks where you don't want pizza? You are forced to try to find somewhere to fit it into your cupboard, and it takes up space that could've been filled with something generally more useful. It's the definition of a white elephant gift.
