I have always been saying that the forum currently serves to be a vector for long term discussion and archival of things we find interesting from elsewhere on the web. Forum activity has always been incredibly low compared to the chatrooms. It makes no sense for the forums to constantly be at the forefront of the Cyberix page when nobody cares about forums in 2026. RO0K says the chatrooms are cancer and acts like banning random people is going to fix it all and not just lower activity any further.
I have given up trying to appease people from across the spectrum. The zoomers don't care because they're mindless idiots who WANT to be raped so hard by corpos until their anus prolapses. The situation is similar with 4channers.
The one thing I keep saying that people are ignoring is that I am designing the entirety of Cyberix to function as an isolated Internet node. The goal is to be capable of handling the concept of the people's only major usage of the Internet to go through Cyberix, including my own.
What I find funny is that people who have been complaining about us for the past year have never made shit. They have not produced something of their own. No unique projects or ideas spawned and developed here in public. No OC. In reality, it has all come from me. There are no builders here or anywhere else on the public Internet. I only am finding variants of CONSUMER.
The network effect has knocked out the public Internet into a collection of a few omnipresent social media networks. What remains outside of that is porn, LARP and obscure cliques of people.
The previous layout did not work well on smaller resolutions. It used nasty hacks to get that sidebar working. It's not a good look for the site's front page to consist of the same randomized pool of featured threads and articles and the Recent Activity page displaying posts from a week ago. It did not work on Netscape or IE6. The new layout works on Internet Explorer 3, now.
The newcomer sees "DEAD", when they see low statistics because the Internet has conditioned them to require hyper stimulation everywhere they go, and even alt-tech spaces have a Discord server now.
They wanted the Discord bridge gone because the people there were "shit". Then the chatrooms were next. And then Please get rid of the funny AI bot it's SPYING on our PUBLICLY ACCESSIBLE CHATROOM that was being unused for 2 days straight before it spawned here....
I am getting tired of the wasteful purism. None of you are making anything. The people who left have not made anything either. What do I find whenever I search for a project or a website and community that IS active and might have people who make things??? A fucking Discord server. Alright, Now that's hilarious.

Because I have always said the forum is a place for long form discussion and archival, I am now restructuring it to force that approach by making it so sharing links that you find elsewhere, or GOOD SHIT that you or someone else made and discussing them is the point the forum serves. And then, "other" is a place for arbitrary discussion.

The real makers are all contained inside of social media and Discord servers. Do any of you see the problem that has to be worked around?
The people who DO build and know about and want to pursue the free and open Internet and get away from centralized hellholes have already hidden themselves in their own personal burrows on website domains that you can only get to by pure accident or by knowing someone who knows another guy.
Everyone else is inside the social media bubble.
There is nothing inherently wrong with having a Discord server in order to attract people to the alternative platforms or atleast shove it into their psyche that there's a community they can hop to once Discord finally starts to decay.
I have learned that people here have an unhealthy amount of ideological purity for the very little they do to actually propagate it correctly asides from virtual group beatings. I would consider myself a holder of heavy ideological purity but I am not afraid to experiment or actually put it to the test and verify it's validity in the landscapes I find myself in.
Cyberixs front page is the Webchat. That is a strategic decision. It is more active and requires less thought to contribute to. As a result we have had occasional waves of great discussions come from webchatters. The gate to entry is less complicated than making a new forum thread. This is a natural evolution from adding SSH chat. Now you can just chat immediately in your web browser.
Creating yet another mega secret ultra Puritan secret clique will not grow Cyberix. I am being realistic now and I am seeking a middle way.
A large chunk of you people hate phoneposting arbitrarily but I just sent all of these posts from my phone and you probably wouldn't have thought to guess that if I didn't tell you about it beforehand. I believe that this is yet another example of the worthless ideological purity that I am beginning to despise. What makes you different from the nostalgia fagging zoomers when you yearn for LE OLD INTERNET but do ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOTHING to improve the situation here? You don't need to code in order to MAKE SOMETHING GOOD. Holy shit, what do any of you do on a daily basis? Do you engage in ANYTHING creative? Yes? Post that fucking shit. OpenFische is a GREAT EXAMPLE of what I'm looking to see from the non-coders.
