You have a bunch of medieval and renaissance composers that were important but are non-canonical. Meyerbeer and Raff were two of the most known composers of their time but nobody listens to them now. Chabrier has one hit and that's it, none of his other works are even semi-regularly programmed or recorded, therefore he's a non-canonical composer. It's unfair, but that's how it is.
