battery powered salt and pepper grinders.jpg
What's the worst food or cooking-related gift you've ever received, or bought yourself? Doesn't have to be an appliance.
>be me
>partner and I enjoy cooking, have spent a decent amount on the hobby
>new knives, cutting boards, etc all things we bought ourselves before moving into our house
>mom brings me a wrapped gift, open it
>pic related, battery powered salt and pepper grinders
>"now you don't have to grind it yourself! just turn it upside down, and it does it automatically!"
>feign amazement for my mom's sake because i love her
>have to find them put them out every time she comes by or she'll get sad i'm not using her gift that does something i could do easily
Anonymous >30d ago #p22565 >>quote [AutoMod] action=queue R:2 E:2 N:1 C:3 | The post is extremely low effort and barely addresses the prompt. It relies on a very weak, personal jab. It's noise in a cooking thread.

i like my recharagable grinders, great gift from the lady
the pepper is a little slow, but that's ok. i'll pull out the hand grinder or spice grinder if i need a large volume for a recipe
generally any multitasker tool. i've been gifted an electric wok, pizza spinning reheater, there's been more but i don't remember. it's all shit.

I was gifted a Breville air fryer once. Sat in the box for a few years and then tried to give it away to everyone and even lastly my nephew and he didn't want it even though he was in a dorm.
Absolutely the most worthless piece of shit ever. It's like, do people really not have ovens? Well yeah my nephew didn't that's why I thought he'd might try it but I guess the kid was too smart to screw with such a pointless gadget that takes up space. What a worthless thing "air" fryers are. Even the name is ridiculous.

>>22583
they're much more efficient than ovens
i mean I don't want one, but that's mostly a counter space limitation.
they certainly have a use and purpose. honestly I'd give up the oven for more cabinet space and then take a moderate sized counter top air fryer. the rare times I need more space I can use the smoker/grill.
woman would probably bitch about baking problems so never gonna happen.
anyway, it isn't a terrible product. just not everyone needs it and that's OK. it was marketed heavily as a need for every home and that's gay and retarded

All my uni taskers have a dedicated shelf in the basement. About once a month I'll use one of them, so they do get use. But yes, generally useless.
I'd use my Instapot more, but I need a new gasket cuz the one on there fucking stinks from curry/chilli and I didn't clean it up right after. It's obviously clean now but the stink is still there. I want to puke just thinking about it. Maybe I'll try taking it out and letting it sit in baking powder or vinegar water. Maybe both, make a volcano.

Completely useless.
There is no positive lock between the motor shaft and the blades, it is just a hex shaft going into a soft plastic socket.
Therefore if there is ANY resistance, the shaft 'strips' and spins keeps spinning while the blades stay jammed in place. The shaft could also get extremely hot very quickly.
Garbage product.

Probably that mini waffle maker that used to be gifted everywhere. I think Dash makes it. It worked, but I think it was stupid since those arent even real waffles it makes. After I had a liege waffle, it ruined american garbage waffles. My mom actually learned and gets me cool stuff now. I really dont even need anything now and have almost any gadget and item I could want. Maybe upgrade some of the shittier stuff I have.
