If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.

The ultimate consolidation happened.

[AutoMod] action=keep R:8 E:8 N:7 C:7 | The post is a nostalgic reflection on the decline of the internet culture. It sets a reflective tone well for a thread opener.
Funny how I lived through the entire "internet era" from dialup usenet forums to the algorithm-driven gigasites, including the scant two decades or so when it was useful and good. I feel like an old man yelling at the clouds for telling people about things that happened in the 2000s, like not giving your entire life, IRL name, address and everything on registering to a site. All the funny shit, the joy of discovery, the cool discussion places., the hidden little forums each with their own unique culture are all fucking gone. It is the age of the slop and the doomscroll now and I'm left chasing a dragon that the zoomies did not even know that it existed.

Also, I'm really tired of how nerd culture got swallowed up by those mentally stunted manchildren too, most of them trooning out in the process. I remember when you could just meet up some random ass neckbeards in your town and start talking about Linux/pokemon/MGT/MMOs/legacy FORTRAN code/D&D/history/whatever and had instant friends.

"Manchild" is an anti male feminist buzz word. Anyone who uses unironically hasn't arranged his mental furniture.

It's like complaining about "woke" is proof you live psychologically in a culture war crack house.

> I remember when

Some things still exist, but you have to go looking for them. Remembering is the password itself. It's all still out there if you know. And all you have to do is show up.

Good luck.

Nerd Culture got replace by capitalist consumer culture. Just because you have a funko pop of spiderman doesn't make you a geek. Hell MTG and D&D are Hasbro PRODUCTS to consume. The same Hasbro as my little pony. Nerd culture has turned d&d players into fucking BRONIES. Manbaby bronies, everywhere. Its about consuming a manufactured cultural product just like all of pro sports. Its all a rich mans grift spreading into the legit geek culture. so, fuck magic the gathering and fuck d&d, fuck funkpops, fuck EA for fucking up gamer culture. All of them want us to be perpetual children.

I feel ya on this. I was just thinking about how I miss the sound of a dialup modem to get on the net. Back then, if you heard that, you knew something magical was happening (as a kid anyway). For a brief minute, you could hear what it sounded like inside the network. Of course, the fastest connection I had growing up was an old 14k system until 56k came out. Once that happened, I thought the connection was fast…then DSL and Cable came out. That shattered my sense of reality because the speed with which things loaded and downloaded was amazing. Or so I thought. The fastest connection I've ever experienced was on a Verizon 5GUW connection when I visited America a few years ago. I saw 3GBPs on my fucking phone. 3GBPs. I stood in silence for a good five minutes trying to wrap my head around numbers like that on a handheld device with no connections to a fucking modem that was plugged into a wall socket.

Zoomers and the generations that come after them will never understand the significance of the technology they hold in their hands every day. They will never know what life was like before any of this tech existed. Those of us who were born during the Cold War era got to witness the leap in tech. Not old enough to be GenX, too old to be a true Millennial. We are feral like Gen X was, but we are more tech savvy than anyone born after 1992. The net was the Wild West for us. Between IRC channels and very basic forums, we could discuss and get info about anything we wanted. Information wasn't curated and pruned to meet any standards, and the net wasn't censored by big tech to control narratives. We were the first and the last generation to know what true freedom on the net looked and felt like. We have also watched it be stripped away from us by corporate interests.

I remember 4chan for what it used to be, not what it became. Once the younger kids came in and started fucking everything about it up with unfunny jokes and fucked political ideologies…it went to hell. At the conclusion of Project Chanology, I stepped away. It was around then that it started to go full retard. It's a shame that 4chan will never came back as it once was. It would be best if 4chan just burned out and faded away at this point because it's a rotted out shell of what it used to be.

On the other hand, what platform doesn't steal content? They all do it. The forums are all fake anyway, since you can't even tell anymore whether you're talking to bots or humans. It makes no difference whether I scream into the void here, on 4chan or on Kiwi Farms. Reading a post here versus on Kiwi Farms makes no difference either. The operators of Cyberix are psychopathic opportunists, but then again so are all platform operators and they are simply perpetuating the existing logic.

If the sole purpose of a forum is to generate engagement and distraction, then it makes no difference whether posts are stolen or written by bots. Especially when it comes to anonymous imageboards, we should come to terms with this new reality all the sooner, because there is no turning back anyway.

>Since this site is simply going to lazily steal content from external sites and pretend it's OC then there's no need to visit it anymore.

I personally have no problem with this. The end goal for Cyberix is to remove the need to visit other websites. That has always been a personal goal for me. I assume all other websites are inherently unreliable, unstable, user-hostile and prone to all kinds of change. However, that does not mean that the information and "content" which these websites output is useless, irrelevant, and doesn't deserve to be archived and discussed elsewhere.

I've begun describing Cyberix as an "isolated Internet node" in my private circles, because that's what I and the rest of the community are turning it into. We will build up our own alternative infrastructure and only observe the broader Internet from afar, only pointing at and talking about the important bits and pieces that we come across while doing expeditions. Trichat and the God Protocol are major parts of this and you will see it become the backbone from which our communications are laid upon.

But even that will become partially unnecessary, as we now have the ability to look at 4channel and adopt GOOD threads that don't deserve to unfairly die into the Network directly. Good 4channel threads that had great potential but were ignored or killed by an off-topic flamewar can now be cleansed, preserved, and **SAVED** onto the Cyberix Network, allowing more sophisticated users to continue the discussion without external factors determining whether or not it'll still be there in an hour.

If you disagree with what we're all doing here, then you may leave. I am providing the means for a behavioral framework that allows people to stop having to put up with other websites and psychologically invest in a growing, insular community consisting of people who know what they're doing, know what the problems are, and are actively building or contributing to solutions to those problems in a creative and sophisticated manner in whatever way that they can.

"Original thoughts" don't exist anyway. Your brain is a master recombiner, not a creator from scratch. Every "new" idea is just an unexpected remix of pieces you've already picked up from the world. The idea of "original thoughts" is a remnant of the 18th century, when the cult of the genius emerged.

Human beings are a subjective, transient existence. We cannot know every piece of insight ever conceived by man, nor can we discover every intricacy of the world in the few years we are alive. We use abstractions, language, geometry, arithmetic, mechanics, algebra, chemistry, statistics, Science™, to save precious time such that we may gather information from different parts of the world. Those abstractions are the most useful original concepts man has ever created despite their nonexistence in the world. It is only through trial and error by their creators' successors that these ideas are proven to be useful, and those efforts should not be ignored.

I admire every single person who created the art which I love, and I will spend the rest of my life just trying to learn all their names. I hope one day I free myself from this curse by going off and creating something of my own. Do not discredit yourself or your peers for being the culmination of everything they have witnessed, by chance or by choice, because, until proven otherwise, it is an existence without compare.

What I ask of you is to go out into the world, live, and then bring back something we all don't already know. When you do that, please use your entire life experience to comment on this information so that it becomes knowledge. Otherwise, it will be another segment of white noise cast into the vast waters of modernity.
