uuuh no thanks it is not 2005 simply pirating is way better and superior experience instead of being little drm monkey with a shiny disc that will go bad, besides that, who wants to INSERT THIRD DISC while playing a film, lol, pathetic

i'm sorry negro, but what part of certain companies downloading all the internet and media in the world with no consequence did you miss?
ip isn't real
stop reinforcing the facade
if your digital media has drm on it it's not yours
and it doesn't matter if it exists on a hundred blurays or a harddrive, it's just 1's and zeros
you are part of the problem
download anything you want
and if you want to pay someone for their work, find a way to do it directly

No hablas ingles? The movies you download take up a lot of space, hombre. Oh, but you can always just buy more “physical media”, right? How many 12 TB drives can you fit in your PC Master Race Battlestation Rig? And you’re going to unplug and wheel your 4chan-approved rig over to your TV when a chick comes over? Check out this movie, wait I need to hook up my 4chan box first. At least all the grown ass men on /g/ approve, am I right? It’s just like being in Serial Experiments Lain!

but what does any of that have to do with the "that takes up a lot of space" comment not making any sense?

You are asking people to buy 12 TB hard drives to store pirated movies or Blu-ray rips that other people uploaded for you. Most people don’t have that. In fact, most people don’t have a 4chan-compliant PC Master Race Battlestation Rig. So yes, the storage space needed for your le heckin’ hackerman future is a lot. Movies take up a lot of space.

Literally anyone with a sizable digital collection is going to have a NAS or PC. IDK how your living situation is that pic related is some kind of burden or big purchase.
If you're seriously trying to argue from the normie perspective then you've already lost as even normies don't collect DVDs/BDs it's just Netflix or other streaming services

No offense but a bunch of plastic shit garbage taking up shelf space and tying me down being a perpetual burden I have to worry about any time I wanna move, 95% of it which I will never ever play anyway is not something I am interested in. My jailbroken ps3 has every ISO of every game I give a shit about and I play like 4 of them occasionally out of like the 200 I have. Every other game I give a shit about is on PC where I can mod it.

If you're an actual collector who enjoys having physical collections ok but that shit is massively overrated and unironically inconvenient compared to just being a pirate. The chance I lose access to my pirated collections because all my storage, backups and online options disappear is less than the discs themselves just dying to disc rot. I abandoned sony in 2013, I never played on xbox, I sold my physical years ago after I digitized it all. I don't even play or care about new games either so the future is not my problem.

They could just be relying on this as a financial investment as well. Something similar happened when emulators first started popping up. All the fags collecting cartridges went on this massive crusade about how emulators were the devil, how you were a total piece of shit if you weren't paying 200$ for the failing cartridge, piracy was totally immoral and killing nintendo, how actually the emulator can't match the experience etc etc etc. Turns out most of these fags just had like 100k invested in like battle-toads cartridges and shit and were hoping to just retire on it. Many were game store owners and resellers and a few were just ripping unofficial cartridges and selling them as genuine.

The arguments mostly mirrored, to the letter what I'm seeing ITT and it also had very similar levels of seething and crying because they were losing money from people just choosing to emulate that shit instead of paying 1000 bucks for the console + peripherals + 4 niche rare overpriced piece of shit plastic games.

You are never going to convince billions of people to buy PC Master Race Battlestation Rigs with NAS. This is why physical media (non-SSD) is important. Without it, they will just stream and own nothing and you will continue acting smug because you never paid for a single piece of media in your life. Someday you’ll grow out of your edgy early 20s and stop caring about fitting in with a shitposting forum you found on Twitter (X).

Barely anyone collects phyiscal and barely anyone owns a NAS. You're trying to convince NAS owners that instead of just having a NAS, they should dedicate an entire room in their house, or maybe even multiple rooms in their houses to having a bunch of shelves of ugly physical bullshit they're probably not even really going to watch or play. No one is going to switch to this, most NAS owners if not literally every single one had a physical collection at some point and found it cumbersome and a waste of effort and space.

I don't need fucking shelves of shit sitting in my room that I watch once a year at best.I have all my discs in a storage box, but I don't touch them anymore, it's faster to download the shit I want. I have lots of legit discs I bought, all kind, be it games, movies, music but I just don't give a fuck anymore.
I just torrent or stream the shit I like, make a backup on a different HDD or even on an encrypted cloud storage. Done. I don't need to swim in plastic, companies can't touch my "Dead.Ringers.1988.1080p.BluRay.x264" and "Freekstyle (Europe) (En,Fr,De).iso"
>but muh booklet and case
I don't care, for me it's just dust collector, if you are into it then go ahead and collect. But to tell me to physically hoard shit because your 20 years old dvd still loads is horseshit.

It's curious how the opposite happens in music. Physical and digital formats coexist quite well. In recent years, vinyl records and cassettes have experienced tremendous growth. People buy vinyl even without owning a turntable. And it's not a fad, it's a clear trend, to the point of being considered the standard. Big and small bands release their music digitally and physically, and both are consumed.

There is no point in physical media for games.
They don't even run correctly without their gigantic day one patch, assuming they work at all offline.
Last game I physically bought was over 10 years ago and it was a DVD with a steam key, the DVD didn't even hold a 1/3rd on the content.

Music works because you don't exactly need patches for sound.
