I don't think there are public facing forums anymore, you have to have an already networked community that gate-keeps and goes private. It has to be designed in a way, intentionally or otherwise, which can filter out all the spam, bots and retardation. I was on a runescape private server about a year ago, had idk maybe 10k players total something like that and it was by far the most genuine, lifelike, authentic community I have seen online since like 2004. Probably because the admin of the site set up custom rules that would not fuck with bots at all, and very strict on the players plus the nature of a RS private server doesn't attract what a forum does like here where it's just endless spam and ads and bot farms.

Basically if you don't know by now you need to find someone who can inv you to something like this or you're forever fucked now.

Discussion can cross into the realm of what is deemed "schizo-tier", but only in the sense that it covers fringe concepts; to my knowledge there aren't any schizo ritual posters. Posts are held to a certain "standard of quality"; you can't just shitpost and/or write one-word retorts. Whether its efforts at moderation are adequate/efficient is subjective--I personally don't like some of the word filters. Some boards/threads are more active than others, though site activity is largely slow.

There are a handful of altchans with their own moderately-sized tech boards, but I personally like that one, and would like to see more activity/contribution on it from the right people.

Aside from forums and imageboards, I've been having more fun browsing sites covering projects I'm working on atm--though they're more often than not forum posts themselves (many of which are a pain in the ass to navigate without an account, some of which have files locked behind donations). I find that it's better for you yourself to read the documentation proper and make sense of it, rather than to seek to seek someone's else's (often misconstrued or incomplete) version of it. The necessity for doing so should be self-evident, if one (rightly) assumes/observes the abysmally-low collective IQ of the Internet.

Irrespective of everyone's objective IQ, there's something about online discourse/interactions that compel oneself to act like a complete fucking moron, more so than they would IRL. This has always been the case--even during Usenet days, going by anecdotal evidence--but it's exacerbated nowadays what with the modern userbase--many of whom are simply seeking quick entertainment instead of enlightenment), and the algorithms that influence them.

Instead of resigning to disregard the majority of users; i.e. normalfags, as niggercattle, I would instead be interested in efforts aimed at elevating them to a higher standard. There have been incidental efforts to do so on the part of privacy mindfulness, but it's primarily performative imo in the sense that they just follow along with it; they don't understand the underlying technologies and the reasons for needing to do something, it's just another personality trait to tack on. Perhaps we'll see a change out of necessity when Western governments collectively carpet-bomb the free Internet (for the sake of teh children, of course!).

No it was a 2005 server i think, web interface only no discord required although it was integrated in some ways I think, maybe they changed it though I quit since. I made the account without discord as I never use it and dont have an account. I remember there was a separate website for trading like a bulletin board or whatever, I do remember before I quit they were talking about integrating discord though. maybe it was 2004scape idk 25buttholes did a bunch of videos on it.
