Someone's selling a prodigy for $500 because they snapped the plate screw. Assuming this is legit and all that's actually wrong, how easy is this to fix?

Judging by the skin color and the jewelry, that gun has way more problems than just a stripped screw.

Perfectly reliable for bullseye/comp shooting totally drenched in light grease, yeah.
You (or whoever said it) are right though that even a "normally" fit 1911 will still be more than accurate than the shooter, you can be competitive at anything with a slightly above average accurate 1911.There really isn't a need for the gun to be retardedly tight in current year, so yeah its boomer bait.
It's actually not that hard, as a machine shop, to make a gun that is excessively tight, it's not like something to brag about. Making a gun that is both reliable and accurate is. I think Staccato is way underrated for how consistent they are at making exceptionally accurate pistols that also manage to pass the 11 testing criteria

1911 was my first ever handgun, still shoot it, carry it, love it. I'm of the opinion that more recoil = more fun, and DA/SA is overrated.
That said you wouldn't regret the 92fs either

>pastebin shitting on someone else's shooting ability
That's called "slowfire". It's a pretty useful way to build skill as a novice (like you are) Notice how he's shooting a group with a discernable center and you're throwing shots all over your fucking target? The word "split" shouldn't even be in your vocabulary until you can shoot groups. But you'll never understand that, because you're too arrogant to know how fucking stupid you are.

It's called I don't want to be banned from this range because the next closest range is about an hour from me. My groups are tighter if I shoot at a cadence, which is ~1 shot per second

If you get a 1911 get a classic at least, like a Colt Series 70. I had a Betetta 92fs and it’s cool but don’t expect to carry it, not too comfortable IMO it dug into my side crouch something fierce, highly recommend a railed Beretta like a M9A1 which I’m actively looking for a good deal on. Like other anon said, 1911s are actually super overrated also I’m a 9mm fan myself.

1911s are outdated, not quite obsolete they still stack up to modern day pistols but in terms of practicality there’s way better options. They make good comp guns but as a duty/ carry pistol? They’re far away from being as good as people say they are.

As a carry pistol for me the manual and grip safety makes it very easy to carry and holster.
As a duty pistol they’re being looked into more and more as they make such good comp guns they allow shooters to faster and more accurate hits. The trigger is much more forgiving.
>inb4 manual safety
Yeah they’re guns for people who can remember to take off manual safeties, people well above the minimum

Went to the range for a pre match class, pretty much where they verify you can draw from the holster without flagging yourself. The final bit was an El Presidente drill on the clock. I scored 12.2+4, how'd I do?

Hello /hg/, /arg/ poster here. Whats the monthly challenge yall do? I see you guys do a thread competition for accuracy at a set distance and use the same target sheet. I'd love join in on that if someone can provide the print.
Also I just bought a TISA 1911A1, any 1911isms I should know or just general 1911 knowledge that important? I've been a Glock shooter up till now.

We did two monthly challenges, I’m too lazy to do the collage and no one but Burt and maybe one other anon attempted July.
For accuracy challenges, get B8C targets (20 cents each) and shoot slowfire at 7 yards. The reigning champion is laser beam anon who puts all 5 into the same hole at 7 yards with his Gen 5 Glock with ACRO. Shooting that same target at 25 is also a regular benchmark.
>1911isms
Extractor tension: easy to tune the existing but you might want to get a quality extractor from a U.S. manufacturer (EGW, Wilson, etc)
Magazines; more important these days for JHPs but if one brand of magazine is giving you an issue, try a different one. MecGar, Wilson, CM power mag, Tripp research, etc all use different follower and tube designs. Your gun might be particular for one over the others.
1911s don’t just jam, there is reasons they jam that can be deduced, mark your magazines so you can tell them apart.
