I have a Cree downlight in my bathroom that's like 20 years old. That's when Cree used to make stuff in the USA though. It's got two white LEDs and a cyan and red, so it's back from before they had actual high-CRI white LEDs.

Oh shit, I've used those. They suck. They're way too yellow. They only last "20000 hours" because you're getting 50W of light from a 100W bulb.
The best bulbs ever were the halogen bulbs BEFORE the watt-saver bullshit. All the watt-saver shit did was use a thinner filament which drew less power and as a consequence, burned out faster.

2200 is fine for me.
I've got two Ikea 2200k smoked/translucent filament bulbs in two smoked/translucent Ikea Fado lamps (with the zebra cord; not sold in the US iirc) and it's so nice and soothing.

You can buy a standalone hardware controller (comes in the pack of 4), but it's designed for studio use, so the button/menu layout is super clunky.
But I mean if you KNOW the exact hue/saturation/brightness value of the color you want and are fine using some physical buttons, then yeah zero app is required.

Actually those bulbs support DMX, so you can get a USB to DMX adapter, then their special DMX to USB-C cable, and just run it directly from your desktop and control everything via a custom app you write, or some open source options

is there any cheat to dim, dimmable led lights without the need for an expensive transformer/pwm thing or whatever its called? some cheap thing from ali express or something where i can just plug it with a normal electric chord? ledlight > electrical cord > cheap dimmer > wallsocket.
i tried a cheap one from amazon, and it does work but the lowest setting is like 80% brigthness instead of 0%.

I hope the pic uploads. Over 300 incandescent lightbulbs from 15 to 1000W here. Most in the 150-250W range.

Bulbs aren't going to help you anon.
>Easy Mode
Get a strobe/speedlite for your camera. Set it to 1/1 and point it upwards towards your ceiling. It's called bounce flash and it'll work well enough.
>Intermediate Mode
Same, but buy a large diffuser for the speedlite and direct flash it instead. More power directed at it means you can get a deeper DoF and not underexpose.
>Fancy Mode
Buy two speedlites, two stands, and two lighting umbrellas, along with a camera transmitter. Set them up on either side of the subject and vary the power between them to get a nice, professionally done lighting effect. This is max autism but if you want your mashed banana to look good this is the TOP MINT strategy.

>I could also buy a new mid-price one ever 2 years forever and still end up cheaper
Territory, those don’t exist anymore. It’s all cheap crap.
Same with led-bulbs. My fist gen ikea all still work, but all my new stuff has to constantly get replaced. Just like in the old days, only that they’re more expensive and more e-waste.

The problem isn't that it's power-hungry, the problem is that you can't dissipate 18W off a bulb that size without the LEDs going to 120C and cooking themselves

These suck for low ceilings because they mostly shine down and are annoyingly bright to look at, and are useless for high ceilings because you can just get a normal fixture.
Also in 2 years some of them will start flickering and dying, but you'll discover that you can't get the same model to replace them anymore and end up with a bunch of different lights.
