I can say the word nigger, retard, cunt, bleeding infected vaginal puss on here. You can really get away with saying anything on 4chan, but that's not the point you can express yourself however you want, even if people call you a faggot. Reddit mods are bigger faggots than the mods here.I got banned for saying the word retarded and the faggot mod spergged about morality of the r-word. You get banned from one sub for using wrong speak and then you're banned from most of the big subs before you know it. The downvoting system is flawed and pushes people to be careful about not saying the wrong thing even though karma doesn't mean anything.

I wrote one but it's only a front end, I have to handle all moderation related post lookups or adding new blocks/boards/whatever directly in mysql.

Would be nice if I could ever get around to making a proper backend but first step of that is user handling and that's such a fucking pain.

also I need a way to have it generate full pages. it only caches queries right now which still saves a shit load of sql time but serving pregenerated html would be faster.

>>24898
>Literally what new features do you add to an imageboard script?
Make it calculate the hash of your image prior uploading and compare it to the base64 hashes in every file field so it can tell if your upload will fail or not with a "file duplicate" error. BEFORE you hit upload.

just a heads up, if you run an altchan, 99% of your incoming spam, as well as a shit ton of CP, will come from allchans/imageboards.net/chancity. I cut down on nearly all of the CP spam by just blocking anyone coming from those boards.

Thanks for the heads up, hopefully with its hotlink/self pinning model they will be dissuaded as there isnt any server for them to vandalize. Already one anon tried creating an "oppai" board but declined to post anything when they realized theyd have to selfhost it themselves. There is pinning integration with filebase and storacha(if they come back online) that makes it conveinent to add pictures, but he content policy is handled by them

On some boards it's down to 2007 levels so there's no way it is "normalizing". Many boards also feel genuinely slower, like /g/ has the same threads up for what feels like the entire week now. It's in fact ten times slower than in 2007 because back then the bump limit was something like 100 posts, today it is 5 times that, so threads rotate significantly slower.

My point was that by forcing everyone to buy a pass just to post here we could get rid of spammers and most of low quality/bot threads by moderating better and also have better privacy (Instead of finger printing your browser you could just associate a single user with a pass and collect only his ip address).

Image boards don't even need fancy software. All it needs is a good admin.

Alright so,

4chan got popular in the mid 2000s because you could share images easily instead of having to use photo bucket to share stuff on forums. No one cared about the fact that your stuff will be deleted because the culture was "on the internet no one knows you're a dog" in the good way

There are two values to 4chan's anonymity in theory. The first is that it would promote higher quality discussion by focusing on the subject matter instead of the person saying it. The second is that the anonymity provided to you will allow you to share things you wouldn't otherwise

The first value was proven false (see the poopdickschizo greentext about modern 4chan generals), turns out it's impossible to actually make a website anonymous if someone is interested in being not anonymous or a personality

The second value is not valued by most people. 4chan implemented $pur which is an Israeli spyware company middleman. If you are not using a ban 3vasion website run by zoopedos you have compromised this value so obviously you never cared about it either. And normies really don't see the value in sharing opinions anonymously any more. You can share /pol/ opinions on twitter using your real name, no one cares anymore.

Actually having anonymity means you cannot moderate the website. Evasion is unstoppable

And of course the moderation on this site is a joke and the mods and admins are not interested in the fundamental values of the site.

I don't care how many times you tell me to kill myself. An image of a 10 year old in a swimsuit from an Amazon listing is not a rule 1 violation. When the social contract is broken between users and mods, and mods do not have sufficient power to stop evaders what you get is a core group of angry users who will post whatever they want. And here we are

4chan is over because it's not really necessary anymore and the kids have moved on. I'll still use it to post AI children in swimsuits though every so often

And I want to emphasize again, barely is actually interested in what 4chan truly promised. Take a look through this thread. Look at how many people are suggesting some form of accounts or email verification. Honestly, my personal issue is that there isn't enough like-minded people to fill a board because they're all panopticon loving tourists.

Imageboards will not go away though because they are useful for low bandwidth and no JavaScript environments such as Tor. The image board is the perfect format for ephemeral darknet sites when expiring content is actually a feature not a bug

Spammers were the first people to buy passes. There's a youtube video somewhere of a guy who trained an AI bot to post on /pol/ using some weird country VPN and a pass.

Blocking non-javascript and tor users is one of the first things you need to do if you want to prevent your boards getting spammed by CP.

You misunderstood my point. Imageboards are outdated tech and only good for 2004-level bandwidth and technology (aka Tor with no JavaScript)

What you're doing is proving my point. Blocking non JavaScript means you're fingerprinting / deanonymizing users. If you are more worried about CP spam than just doing your job as an admin and allowing anonymous discussion then you are not interested in the values of image boards and a matrix server would be more valuable for you

You do understand that the difference between 4chan, twitter, and oldschool forums is 1. accounts, 2. how the frontend presents posts/threads and 3. the post length limits? I could make threads, get replies, and post images in 2004 on phpBB and Invision based forums. You could write a custom frontend based on the 4chan API threads end point to get a design that looks exactly the same as phpBB board indexes. The post backlinks already act as the reply collections on twitter, it's only missing the reblog and like buttons and those would be trivial to add to the backend/frontend.

>If you are more worried about CP spam than just doing your job as an admin
CP spam is basically an hourly thing on even smaller altchans (we have a tracker for it), blocking that isn't a matter of "doing your job", it's impossible to do fast enough so your users are not subject to it. And I should point out that as long as you are not taking it down, you are technically hosting CP on your server, which has legal ramifications.

>and allowing anonymous discussion then you are not interested in the values of image boards and a matrix server would be more valuable for you
We are having anonymous discussions right here right now, it has nothing to do with blocking javascript or tor. Those are necessary for MODERATION, otherwise it is impossible to ban bad posters, and once your site gets even slightly popular you'll be flooded by the first dumbfucks who want to prove they have the biggest autism. But maybe you are too much of a newfag to remember how much of a problem this used to be here on 4chan as well, we even have a banner to commemorate it (download the image, rename it to .hta, and shit bricks).

Every single other social media with 1000x more spam can do it. You don't deserve to run a website. s#arty figured out how to stop the spam once and for all and they're a larger altchan than you.

>>25078
>We are having anonymous discussions right here right no
Yes, I am because I know that I'm posting on a r3sidential prox. You are not having an anonymous discussion. One of $pur, or cloud flare is very confident in who you are in real life. Because this is known to people like me, the discussion I could be having with you is different. Please don't be so retarded that I have to send you the Wikipedia article for "observer effect".

You have proven that you don't actually care about anonymity and you don't understand why imageboards were actually appealing to me. Most people don't understand either which is why twitter is more popular than imageboards

All you're doing is repeating my points about how people don't actually want or care about anonymity, yourself included. And also proof that anonymity isn't even that much of a value especially once you include Israeli spyware. This is exactly the poopdickschizo complaint.
