Yeah, no. About the only country in the Venn diagram of "enough money to try" and "insane enough to try" is India, and given the stunning success of every other domestic production plan of theirs, I'm sure they will have no problem figuring out man-portable nuclear reactors.

Shit. Their gyrojet SMGs might charitably carry 30 rounds in the mag, they overwhelmingly don't carry spares and I've never heard of a space marine logistical unit; so idk who is restocking them during their long interplanetary campaigns. I think its pretty much canon that humans have the worst tech in the setting, and a lot of tech in the setting is worse than its real counterparts.

stormtrooper armor would probably be good, lasguns are good, some of the lighter genetic and cybernetic modifications would be good, non-space-marine power armor would be good after adaptation, bolters are kind've stupid unless you're a space marine. all imperial vehicles that aren't spaceships are laughably bad and the spaceships are only good because we don't have anything better currently, if we had the tech to make them we'd make them better.

pretty much all tau tech that isn't a heavy walker is extremely useful.

eldar tech is also similarily quite good, though a bit more niche and time taking to adapt it to human combat than tau tech.

idk about the dwarves.

Marines are special forces, when deployed offensively it is in brutal lightning raids where they are in and out before logistics becomes an issue. And when they do participate in a slow grinding campaign, the marines are so few in number compared to the humans that their logistical footprint is basically zero.

Eldar tech is all psychic based and is made out of a material that they "sing" into existence. We ain't copying any of their shit. Hell, their basic ass assault rifles don't even use propellant, they fuck with gravity to make the muzzle down as far as the rounds are concerned, and they just fall out of the barrel at such speed that they are still moving at fuck your shit speed once they re-enter a normal gravity well.

to be fair, most of it is tech from the dark age of technology, the imperium barely understands how to use it or make it

so its possible they are fabricating the shittiest tank model possible because they cannot replicate the nicer models

These guys used to surf on solar flares for fun. There are so many steps between that and what we have now that we couldn't even begin to reverse engineer their shit. >I think its pretty much canon that humans have the worst tech in the setting

its... complicated

as a species, ork definitively have worse tech, and tyranids dont use tech at all

and WITHIN the imperium theres different factions, in broad terms you find 5, from worst to best tech:

>Imperial Guard
>Sisters of Battle
>Space Marines
>Adeptus Mechanicus
>Custodes

the guard gets the shittiest gear by far, they wield the weakest small arms, possess no antigrav vehicles and some of their weapons, like plasma guns, can malfunction and explode on their faces, vaporizing them

the sisters of battle do have better gear, on account of being an army subordinate to the imperial church, they get preferential treatment compared to the guard, they regularly field power armor and bolters like space marines, but weaker since they are designed for unaugmented humans

the space marines are pretty much the elite army of the imperium, due to a fairly recent lore development they now field antigrav vehicles in substantial numbers and they plasma weapons no longer explode (unless you disable the safety features for a more powerful shot)

Adeptus Mechanicus, from what i know of the lore, not many units they field are explicitly more advantaged than those of the space marines, they have antigrav tanks and lots of cyborgs, however in-lore the mechanicus build almost all the tech used by other imperial factions, and while their understanding of tech is more religious than scientific, they do have a level of understanding, so it stands to reason they MUST have the better tech compared to all other factions except...

custodes, the emperor's bodyguards, each hand made, they are the wagyu beef to the space marine's McDonalds, i think its been established their tech comes from the dark age of technology, so the Mechanicus doesnt understand it and probably cannot even replicate it, it might be comparable to tech fielded by the Tau, a nominally more advanced alien faction

Not very, and that's the intentional reading even in-universe.
Lascannons which can barely be carried by Space Marines and need a wheeled mount for normal humans used to be small enough that a regular person could comfortably hold them in their hand. In some point in the distant past, humans were capable of doing the funny Necron trick where their infantry could suppress armored vehicles. The modern Lasgun, which is probably the only piece of kit in the IG that's worth anything by its own merits/isn't something they stole off an epoch earlier human civilization, is but a pale imitation.

the tradeoff is that they are very cheap, very reliable, and very low tech. Even the most remote backwater can support them as long as they have mid 20th century tier metalworking ability. They require large crews but that is not viewed as a downside because human life is the single cheapest resource in 40k.

Lasguns spreading out like wildfire would level the playing field regardless if you're a civilian militia or a professional soldier from a 1st world military.

Earth's entire military would get mogged by one Space Marine chapter, two if their mission is to demand compliance and submission aka don't kill everybody.

America could probably kill one company and that's about it, they'll lose everyone else in exchange. China, Puccia, Yurop, India combined can take out one company but they'll also get wiped out.

the Imperium's best gear is some of the best tech in the setting on par with what Necrons and Eldar can do and way above Orks or Tau
but because the Imperium is so massive and decentralized they don't have the knowledge or infrastructure to utilize this tech everywhere
instead they mix in a lot of simple, rugged lower tech things, including stuff that is little different than modern tech like stubguns, flak armor and the engines in many of their ground vehicles

The DPRK would try it without hesitation if they had even the most minor ability to make those genetic modifications, i'd be surprised if they were not attempting to do it already. While i doubt they can do all but the most minor modifications to their gene stock they are the most likely nation to try it due to a uniquely isolated genetic base and their government structure.

If anyone was going to try to make genetically enhanced soldiers (proto pre 30K Dark age Warhammer thunder warriors) it would be the DPRK, India doesn't have the balls to do it.

A single chapter has like 1000 space marines. What do you even mean by airbases? There are like 1500-2000 known airbases. That's not counting the myriads of nuclear silos, bunkers, ammunition depots, factories.
Even if the space marines brought their battle barges, take out all our satellites, use their EMP, target visible military bases, each space marine has to neutralize 200k-300k soldiers and that's only the current active personnels across the fucking globe.

I used to think the assault bikes were stupid, but seeing combat in Ukraine where AFVs were used to land troops into enemy positions, and the graduation from that to bike assaults, they made a bit more sense. If you're already a power armored god protected from small arms, something fast to allow you to close with and destroy the enemy is a little less stupid.

Most of them don't have combat ready F-35s or anything that the space marines would really care about. The ones that do could be hit with impunity
>Even if the space marines brought their battle barges, take out all our satellites, use their EMP, target visible military bases, each space marine has to neutralize 200k-300k soldiers and that's only the current active personnels across the fucking globe
The point is that they don't have to personally kill every Earth soldier because Earth doesn't have any of the tools that are used to defend against a space marine orbital assault (i.e. blocking teleportation with warp shenanigans or being scary enough to beat isolated groups of marines in close combat)
If the war did drag on, modern weapons could be adapted to fighting marines but that might not happen quickly enough to prevent all leadership from being killed and damage to electricity/water infrastructure

Leman Russ is riveted the same way the Cromwell and M10 Booker are: they're there to hold the armour together, but the chassis-proper is welded so while hits might knock plates off, the squishes inside will not be at liberty of getting ganked by their own proteciton.
That still doesn't fix the myriad of other issues with it, but it's a consideration.
