>Vivaldi's latest update shows them deprecating Manifest V2 extensions as well
It's over Chromium bros. What do we do now? Will Edge be the only one that will keep Manifest V2 on Chromium using Microsoft's funding or will they also give up? Will Google eventually strong arm Mozilla into dropping it on Firefox and its forks as well?

It's not just about adblocking. Apparently, userscript deploying extensions (whatever they're called, Tamper/Violent/Greasemonkey) are affected as well.
Besides, uBlock Origin isn't just about adblocking either, you can use it to block and bypass all kinds of things.

Of course Microsoft will yeet it from Edge too eventually. Have you learned nothing you fucking braindead NPCs. Do you really have ZERO pattern recognition?

It's their best chance to give Edge an advantage over other forks (Copilot and other slop doesn't count). You're probably right though, there's no way Microslop would side with the consumers.

I'm actually maining Firefox, I only keep Chromium browsers as backups. And it still surprised me how quickly they folded. There's no longer any use case for Chromium forks.

chromium forks will probably be able to support mv2 until january 2028 because google's stated commitment to supporting enterprise mv2 chrome apps until then. enterprise chrome is the same codebase with a few feature toggles that the forks are enabling.
not surprised vivaldi pozzed itself tho. vivaldi's blocker comes with whitelisted sponsored ads, they don't actually care, privacy is just a marketing term to them.

Updated, noticed it. You can still use them and TamperMonkey works on v3. Already switched to TM and uBO, I'm pleasantly surprised these were the only two affected.

Changed from open to closed source and sends analytics by default. you can turn it off, just be wary of shenanigans with TM, I don't trust them.

Yeah, I like Vivaldi because it provided the featureset (if not the performance) of old Opera, but I had to switch to Firefox because of this. The internet is unbrowsable without ublock origin.
I guess I'm glad Firefox still exists, but I wish there were other non-blink options.

Mozilla is running ads in Firefox and has so much money it's sponsoring a Football Team now. Firefox will cuck ublock eventually and forks will be banned by cloudflare.

mv3 extensions might be "good enough" for adblocking, but I've been using uBO for all kinds of advanced features and with mv3 you have to wait for an extension update instead of using filter lists, like wtf?

I used vivaldi for twitch and some other streaming websites since FF didn't play well with them for some reason, but now userscripts are fucked and twitch bypassers got shot in the head. Opera still supports everything but it's sketchy and feels like active spyware.
What's a good firefox fork? I recall one called librewolf being very security and privacy focused? Is that one good?

Biggest problem for me is that a large feature of it is that it FULLY integrates twitch without needing tabs for it, so you get notifications for your streamers on any tab and can watch it on any tab as an overlay, which is nice I guess but it makes it so any adblocking for twitch won't work and you're stuck with their VERY ugly ui.
