Love me some Awful Waffle. For me its a cheesesteak hashbrown bowl with bacon, onions and a few packets of Waffle House Sauce, and if I want to be extra fat, a peanut butter waffle.

Decent food for cheap. Hash browns are still the best thing there, everything else is whatever

Love it. Especially right after work at about 430 in the afternoon and I'm the only customer there. The employees are all white and it's awesome.

Automatically great because it's the only restaurant open 24/7. As someone who works graveyard, I appreciate a place that can serve a burger at 3am.

One of the things I miss most about living in the South. They were always my go-to place after a show or if I was on the road at night. Patty melt, hash browns scattered, smothered, covered, and peppered. Black coffee.

best grilled chicken, waffle house sauce is good, if the location has the vanilla syrup and orange soda i get a pump of that.
the sirloin is bad, the t-bone could be good if one of the grills was set to the highest, it's so thin it's gonna overcook without getting a sear. don't like that they grill the buns. the jukebox sucks

Can you go into great detail about from the time you enter waffle house, what's going through your mind, why you chose waffle house, the atmosphere, talking to the waitresses, ordering food, eating it, the sensations and tastes of eating it, and the routine of leaving Waffle House?

Write it like a story or some shit. I always see old dudes in there by themselves at the bars, so I'm curious to see what goes on in the inner workings of one of these people.

You could start it off like: "I stepped in out of the sweltering heat. Between the smell of my own odor and the fusion of chemical bathroom aroma and sizzling bacon.. my nose was just as confused as my mind was, as to why I was settling down in this wretched southern diner once again. My waitress, Lola, with an overweight african american lady with visible facial hair, welcomed me in and said "Whatchu havin' today sweety? I gotchu a spot up on this bar. Come on an have a seat baby!""

I don't want to be around the type of people who patronize Waffle House. For me, it's Huddle House.

>Leave some party getting out of control back in college days, drunk af after double-fisting keg beer and pj/jungle juice/trash can juice w/ everclear
>leave apartment complex and traverse on foot out into massive wilderness field area because huge highway is somewhere nearby, I think
>don't really remember much of the actual journey accept climbing to the top of some massive hill in the field and seeing a waffle house sign in the distance
>hallelujah.mp3 goin off in my head
>don't really remember eating the meal, browning out
>next thing I know, I'm in a friends car who was working and not chilling with the gorup that night going to his place or my place to crash

I used to have a pic on my old phone of that waffle house from atop the hill in the massive swath of wilderness between that apartment complex and waffle house, but this was back in the day of oldschool flip-phones with no way to save pics off of the phone. The meal was most 100% definitely an all star meal with sausage, hashbrowns scattered covered, and scrambled eggs.

I love waffle house. Every time i go there i get a feast of a steak, eggs, hashbrowns, biscuits n gravy, sausage, and eggs all for 30 bucks.

Of course, they quality of the food varies by the cook and the place but I will never disagree with a waffle house pick.

That's like saying you're a scared little baby if you won't jump in the tiger enclosure at a zoo. It's called common sense. I prefer the little mom and pop diners where I know I'm not walking into a den of evil where I could be injured or killed for no reason. I don't eat tendies or have autism btw, fuckface.

Funny how long they claimed they weren't copying Waffle House. Eventually they did start going their own way, but for a period they were pretty much Waffle House but red.

Despite the memes, I think Denny's is the deadlier of the two restaurants. Waffle House is drunk people having skirmishes. Denny's fights tend to be deadly.

I've never been but I heard it is filled with crime, gun violence, terror, hazardous work conditions, and decent waffles.

I also heard that the waffle house is used as a metric for how severe a hurricane or power outage in an area. Like really fucking bad hurricanes are only ever considered catastrophic once the local waffle house has to close down for a few hours.

Ours shut down last year after one of the hurricanes, my boss wasn't able to get the generators he wanted. Another one was destroyed but it was closer to the beach.
Running a limited menu and to-go only after was awesome

I'm still amazed that the burnouts working there are able to memorize the esoteric plate feng shui they use instead of a ticket system. also I think it's kind of gross that they put shit on your plate to mark your order, but the only times I've actually been at a waffle house I was too tired to care.

it's because it's esoteric that it's easy to memorize. that's how the human brain works. you prioritize memory formation around novel concepts and experiences.

I loved marking plates, getting things set up, and then getting my cook over to start and he glances at the plates and knows what to do, leave him to his weed and music
probably the rarest marking was "all the way" hashbrowns, a waffle house sauce packet
