High Cholesterol Food

Just found out that I have a high total cholesterol and freakishly high LDL for a 25 year old gamer. I barely even eat meat and am vegetarian most of the time, eating a lot of dairy and cheese. I don't really use butter for cooking at all, only olive or avocado oil, and don't eat many baked goods or cakes. I do eat ice cream regularly. The dairy is the only thing that I can think of causing my numbers to be this bad. I also binge drink 4-5 days per week and don't exercise. What foods am I supposed to eat in order to lower my LDL and cholesterol? I see people online saying that you should try eating <10g of saturated fat per day to achieve lowering cholesterol, but how is this even possible unless you eat nothing but raw vegetables and fruits?

Eat more fiber. Take metamucil. And go exercise you lazy bum even as simple as walking for a half hour a day (for starters).

I know a guy like this who actually exercises and didn't drink much, it's just genetics for some people.
Do your best to fix your drinking and exercise, but since your diet seems low cholesterol already I'd plan to see your doctor regularly. Get scans often so you're not blindsided
The guy I knew was the picture of health until about 60, when he keeled over at work and needed a 5 valve bypass surgery. He's still kicking though, at 78! Still biking everyday too
Eat more fish, legumes, exercise, and see your doc
You'll do fine B)

Try replacing the dairy with more binge-drinking, something like 12 to 14 times per week. See how that works for 8 to 6 weeks, and report back here. Thread will still probably be up, but if its not, keep bumping it with progress pics.

Are you overweight? That's usually a big cause of most things like this, so losing weight will help.

>I also binge drink 4-5 days per week and don't exercise.
Obviously this isn't helping. You can't diet your way out of this. You're binge drinking more often than not.

I don't know what you consider overweight but my BMI is 22. Also I know a lot of people have different definitions of binge drinking but what I mean is I drink 3 drinks over a 2-3 hour period on a lot of nights because it helps me sleep especially if I am anxious.

My toe got hit and the nail was bent backwards and partially detached. It reattached itself, but a few months later, I had a huge outbreak of plantar warts all over the bottoms of both feet which were extremely painful and I guess I got infected from my broken toenail since I didn't get any medical treatment for it. It took several months of covering the bottoms of my feet in acid and laser surgery to remove them all. They don't hurt as consistently now, but I have had random bouts of metatarsalgia in both feet ever since then. It's really not severe enough to use it as an excuse, I just hate going outside which is why I don't exercise.

I wouldn't consider that binge drinking, but probably more than is reasonably healthy to consume and could be contributing. Do you smoke?

I've heard that various deficiencies can cause high cholesterol. Vitamin C is one that is supposed to help lower cholesterol. You could look up any other and see if your diet might be low in them and try that.

I've also heard that sugar intake can cause cholesterol problems because some of it gets converted to fat in the liver. If you're regularly eating ice cream and drinking alcohol it could be taxing your liver too much because they both affect your liver in similar ways. It's why people who consume too much sugar for too long end up with liver disease just like alcoholics.

Still more oleic than ideal, especially if adulturated. Switch to ghee or tallow(beef — pork and chicken Omega-6 fucky diets too readily get skewed with the trash they're fed). After that look into arterial plaque mitigating supplementation (K2 for a start, keeps the vasculaturepliable, plus sequestered calcium in bones & making D3 usable). Statins are ... well, enjoy dementia later.

Dairy fat contains mirystic fatty acid that's great at increasing ldl. Don't eat dairy fat. Don't eat beef fat. If you want a rule of thumb, indeed stop eating sat fats. This includes plant fats like palm oil. If you want more detailed breakdown, ask AI about fatty acids that increase ldl.

Lean meat, beans, veggies, fish is what you should eat now.

Cheese and dairy are elevating it, especially in high amounts. I had a friend in elementary school who ate whole blocks of grated cheese and had high cholesterol. Binge drinking making it worse. You need to cut down on dairy and drinking switch to a more plant based diet and try exercising. This isn't rocket science, you already know what you are doing wrong.

It's Sneed oil specifically that does it

Does avocado count as a sneed oil? I only use avocado and olive oils at home, I used to use butter for some things but not as much anymore. I never use any kind of sneed oils at home but I know they are snuck into just about every product these days so my exposure isn't zero but should be much lower than most people. I don't eat at restaurants either so that should reduce my exposure too.

Do you consume a lot of eggs? Eggs don't contribute to cholesterol levels for most people but you could be part of the minority where they do raise cholesterol.

Avocado is the least bad of the bunch because it's extracted from the flesh and not the pit itself
You really should stick to animal fats when cooking though, they're more stable and don't oxidize as much when heated
They where the real damage is done
That's one of the main issues with the sneed oils in the first place aside from their lipid profile and being high in linoleic acid which causes inflammation and DNA damage, is the process they're made exposes them to high heat so they oxidize and become toxic
Cold pressed isn't just a meme

You know how one oil in your cast iron pan gets heated and polymerizes to become a coating? That's what happens when oil is heated and reheated
You really don't want to be eating that shit

Gonna be autistic for a sec and point out fruit oils like avocado/olive/coconut are not part of the bunch at all. Like you said, they're pressed from the flesh.

Yeah they're permissible, but the refined versions are sneed tier too because they go through the same RBD process

Like EVOO and "olive oil" are totally different products basically
People buy regular olive oil thinking its the same as EVOO when its basically just canola at that point

>Like EVOO and "olive oil" are totally different products basically
Olive oil can still be high quality, it just won't meet stricter standards to be labeled as extra virgin. Light olive oil is what has been refined similarly to most canola oil.

The less refined stuff is probably healthier but eating a lot of any refined fat probably isn't good for you and you should be getting most of your fat from whole foods instead. I don't think the issue with seed oil is that it comes from a seed but that it's just a processed food similar to white sugar and white flour. Eating seeds and fruit and whole grains won't really cause as many issues as eating a lot of refined oil/sugar/flour.

Seed oils with their processing aside still aren't suitable because of their makeup
As they say the dose make the poison, you want a little bit of omega 6 but too much drives all sorts of metabolic issues, heart disease, auto immune shit
One tablespoon of sunflower oil has the equivalent of 2 pounds if sunflower seeds
An impossible amount to eat in it's raw form but easily overdosed on in oil form

>One tablespoon of sunflower oil has the equivalent of 2 pounds if sunflower seeds
Naw it's not that much. Sunflower seeds are like half fat. Assuming perfect extraction you'd only need about 30g of sunflower seeds to get a tablespoon of oil which is about 1/4 cup.

I know omega 6 has been blamed for things but it doesn't seem like people who eat a lot of nuts and seeds experience the issues it gets blamed for. Blaming omega 6 when everyone is eating processed food and most people are overweight is kind of missing the point. Everything will cause problems if it's being overconsumed, whole foods are harder to overconsume and will result in weight loss and improved health even if it still has omega 6 or carbs or whatever people want to blame.

I just don't see any reason to be taking in plant based foods when animal based ones are available to you

They're already nutritionally robust, easily digestible, and pretty much impossible to overeat
I genuinely think what people should do when they're hungry is eat a pound of beef and then decide if they even want anything else
I'll admit I'm guilty of sneaking some avocados and blueberries, and when nobody is looking I might even have some cashews
But for the most part it's beef, lamb, and if I'm feeling peckish a little slice of butter
I tend to stay away from salting my food too because I want to make sure I'm eating for the food not the hit of sodium, and then I'll have salt separately on its own if I want some

>a little slice of butter
Why not milk? I'm guessing you have an issue with carbs then.

Anyway, we're omnivores. Carbs give energy to our brains and muscles, your brain can use over 100g of carbs per day and your muscles/liver can hold another 500g or so for energy. There isn't really any downside to eating carbs if they're not heavily processed and overeaten. Nobody is really having issues from fruit unless they can't digest sugar well and it gives them digestive issues. Nobody is really having issues from potatoes unless they get loaded up with processed fat.

I don't really think everyone is meant to be eating a lot of meat anyway. It's been normal for some people to mostly have dairy at times, I feel better just drinking milk more often and might only want to eat meat once in a while. But other than that I'd be happier just eating some potatoes or brown rice or something like that. Hunter-gatherer groups that exist today will eat meat whenever they can get it but they often say honey is their favorite food and they'll eat a lot of it regularly too, and sometimes they even say fruit is preferred over meat too. They're all pretty healthy despite consuming carbs and more sugar than we think is healthy.

Also if you're mostly just eating meat then you're still missing out on a lot of nutrition. Organs and things like blood provide way more nutrients than meat does. That's why a lot of carnivores will go for those things first.
